We played Japan in a friendly last Saturday I think it was, and we went 1-0 down in 5 minutes. England then got a penalty for deliberate handball, and Lampard missed.. And England couldn't even score by themselves, the only reason we won 2-1 was because of 2 Japanese own-goals.
England is definitely not the best team right now, we'd be doing well if we got past the Quarter-finals. My money is on Argentina or Italy.

spain will not be winning due to injuries soo gg. I have a strong feeling about the netherlands beating brazil and australia beating germany (if my bracket serves me correct) as for the USA they get past the first round and not the second :(

There´s something curious about Slovakian team: On 2002 they stayed 3rd on group and didn´t go to Korea and Japan. On 2006 the were 2nd on group and unfortunately they lost with spain. Now the were 1st on group and they play really good, the group looks easy for Slovakia, if you guys believe on yourselves and play good, your future on Southafrica will be great! Good luck from Tij

Will be tough for Australia, a draw against Germany in the first round is a good start, then beat Ghana and Serbia, cu at the round of 16 :P
USA should get through to the 2nd round pretty decent team and i cant see Algeria or Slovenia beating them.
Number 1 underdog team is New Zealand would be very interesting to see how they do.

i made a real bracket in which i had spain as the winner and had germany on top of australia, unfortunately for you i still had australia make it behind germany and had England over france. I was allowed two brackets

Germany no matter what will be in semis, this way or the other. Only time when they had great team and didn't go to semis was in France 1998 and that's because we had alot of luck to withold first 45 min of their pressing. They are just to persistant not to be in there.

Ugh, I hate it when teams just pass the ball between their defence when they're 3 or 4-0 up. Surely they should go and try get as many goals as possible, it just makes the game boring when they do that..

You can just hope you will see alot of goals from Brazil, they changed their gameplay, now they are more concentrated on defense. Rarely you will see alot of goals in any group, especially in elim rounds.

Brazil - Korea reminded me of Inter - Barcelona. One side pushed and the other bunkered up. It was a pretty fun match to watch though.
The Koreans actually put up resistance, even though they never played real football. They really deserved that last goal.
Maicon's goal was pretty stunning. I think we're going to see a lot more attempts of scoring from such a high angle from other players now because he succeded ;)

It wasn't in a sence of making fun, I just lost every bit of sympathy I once (long time ago) had for their football, especially after this whole Ihateyou Youhateme excrement and especially after Henry's hand against Ireland. He was one of my fav players, after that 0 respect. IMO football is a sport with minimum sportmanship.

ino, i think the technical term is: Algeria owned us. Netherlands do look pretty good, but im surprised by most of the underdogs of the tourney like Uruguay , Serbia and Slovenia, who are all doing reli well, maybe a suprise winner. ;)

Serbia has a really strong team. I don't know why everybody called them "underdogs", they forced France to play in the extra qualifications!
Seeing all the favorites fail at their fieldplay (even if they win, they play horrible, see the Netherlands), I really think there might be a surprise winner. Furthermore I think the chances for Argentina are really increasing, from all "classical favorites" they played the best so far.

True, Netherlands dissapointed me a bit today, was expecting much more.
Most Euro teams loose when they are contraplayed with pressing on mid. Still, tourney still have alot of days to come, France is hopefully out, England aswell (this is for Lekky :P). First rounds don't mean excrement, elim rounds is where experience of playing lots of tourneys kicks in. That's why altough Argentina is one of my all time favourites I don't see them winning because they will loose due to their coach who proved he has 0 tactical knowledge. And you can't win WC only by playing with heart. Spain is still IMO no1 favourites. Regardless the loss against Neutrals, they dominated the field, ball sometimes just doesn't wanna go in.

I'm lost for words. Capello, won't EVER change his tactics during a game, our players get paid to much whether as Soldiers get paid pennies compared to "World-class" footballers, and flipping the referee disallows our CLEAR goal.. Lampard hits the bar, it's just omg.
If we scored that goal, which was a goal in everyones opinion, we would be drawing 2-2, or possibly winning.

That is to be seen, imo, 50-50 chance, Argentina has better players, that's true, but football isn't all about players, it's about making good tactics and trapping your opponent. And Low is far better and experienced than Maradona. Here he will miss the fact he has only Mascherano as DMC, while Cambiasso had better season and sometimes you need 2 DMC to close the game. And that one will be only 1 goal difference (if Germany can put their defense in line...).

What was so exciting? All I saw was Uruguay being out classed by the youngest team in the tournament. When they couldn't hang they tried very hard to get free kicks because they knew that was the only way they could have a chance. Very poor sportsmanship. This is why most Americans will never watch the sport.
