Finally i announce, that i there will be stream daily (if we actually get match ^^).
I will be streaming mostly paintball matches, also some LoL and other games with my friends (not rly point of this tho, just saying).
Guess i will try stream with microphone and commentate a little if we dont use voice recon (as we usually dont).

The fps is really good :)
Great to see a livestream series!
-
Finally is someone streaming Digital Paintball 2 (BIG + for you), but we played against you today and you was lagging as hell. You said: "I'm not lagging, it's fine for me", but you was... every freaking second when you was streaming, big disadvantage.
-
Seemed fine when playing us to be fair
-
I can show my demo of spectacing prozajik, if he want ^^
-
I'm not doubting what you said, I am just stating that he didn't lag vs us, or I didn't notice anything anyway
-
Nice to see someone streaming dp2. I would stream when I pub if my internet could handle it =p.
I watched for a few minutes yesterday. To be honest the quality wasn't that great. It was decent, maybe I am just spoiled with all the 1080/720p streams that are out these days.

Paintball2 is a very hard game to stream. There are so many motion artifacts, that it makes the video look blurry, even in 1080p.
I think there should be a new feature (infact, I may post it now) of a new way of spectating, more 'advanced' camera controls, to make it easier to commentate tournaments. In a game like LoL, it's easy to watch a match.
Thinking of advanced camera controls, how cool would it be to have like 4 SPLIT screened parts of 1 window? Spectating 2 players from each team automatically... that would make tournament livestreams SO much better to watch.
I may have a way of doing this, a glitchy and laggy way, for the livestream viewer only, would be very awkward and it would crash a lot.

Eh I don't think that is an excuse to be honest. If you are streaming at 1080p and the video is blurry either your hardware or internet connection isn't good enough. I'd suggest that prozajik lower his resolution while streaming. Maybe my standards are just too high.... I just don't see a point in having a low quality stream.

Well, I for one, enjoy watching a stream like this, even if the quality is low.
Put it this way, not everyone can afford the 'right' hardware due to certain reasons. I think 720p stream with a decent fps is fine, as long as there isn't too much blurriness, I am fine with it.
I recon it's all personal preference and experience. Better pb2 streams, than no pb2 streams.

Maybe try posting a link in reddit.com/r/gaming next time you're matching. :)

The problem is, it really seems like i port and i have no idea what to do about it. My internet has 5 Mb upload and i was able to get video bitrate on 1000 and still get decent quality (well i had to lower it to 480p). My net should be able to stream even 1080p(mhm maybe not, but 720p for sure), the problem is, my provider is biatch and everytime there is high bandwidth for a longer time, some algorithm starts to limit my speed, even tho i am paying more, so the speed isnt affected by others downloading (i guess private link, isnt correct word).
Also, i am not really experienced with streaming, what i was able to find out so far, is that 1600 bit rate is nice quality and i dont lag. Anything over that and i get spike lags. I am streaming 720p, but the bitrate isnt enough, 720p = 2000 bitrate, 1080p = 3000 bitrate.
I tried streaming 480p, but again, i was porting. I have no idea what to do about it. I can stream league of legends without single problem and it looks HD. Paintball is too demanding honestly ^^. I am leaving like 4 Mb of upload for the game and its still porting, i honestly think its only PB, because, what the hell, how can game lag with 4 Mb for it -.-

Sorry for that, but i just couldnt stand the way you played air, so i was like fck it, ima leave stream on during that map, even tho i port. I shut it for the next map tho.

My biggest setback is my internet, pretty sure my pc could handle even 1080p, but my internet certainly could not.

Its the internet, i could get pretty high quality 480p, but again! I AM PORTING! :( Even tho, its only 1200 bitrate so still like 3800 Mb left for the game....

I think it might be related to paintball using UDP packets, which are rarely used nowadays.
One thing is that it can be server that lags (Most DP servers lag nowadays), but netgraph should help detecting what is issue. Spike lags can mean that something uses full conection for a bit, packet loss or just packets not streaming for a bit.
If you pay pretty much for 5 Mb symmetric connection, I think it's weird that your ISP limit you on longer amount of time.

Well, i dont lag at all, thats the problem. When i wanted to test it, i had to rent server and start paintball twice and chasecam myself to see if i lag or not. My ping is totally fine, not single packet drop/ping increase.
Unfortunately, this the best ISP around. I guess one of the reasons is that its provided over wifi. There is no other solution for me, because i am in a small village which doesnt have cable or anything else. Well actually they limit me only if i am downloading/uploading using my whole bandwidth (5 Mb) for longer time. I brought it up to them and they said its some sort of algorithm, which does it to prevent people downloading 24/7 using the top speed (i guess because of warez/torrents), but again, nowadays people watch 1080p streams daily so i dont really see reason to actually lower it, but what can i do, there is no other ISP i could have internet from.
EDIT:I found this website
http://www.ezs3.com/public/What_bitrate_should_I_use_when_encoding_my_video_How_do_I_optimize_my_video_for_the_web.cfm (http://www.ezs3.com/public/What_bitrate_should_I_use_when_encoding_my_video_How_do_I_optimize_my_video_for_the_web.cfm)
which talks about bitrates and basically stream, really nicely explained there and i finally managed to get decent quality while not porting!
Well not really 720p, I had to lower it to 360p so quality is not the best, but at least i dont port and its watchable. I might try and figure out something better tomorrow. I found out that playing around with resolution really helps, also the algorithm to calculate bitrate needed helped aswell.
-
So, i thought i would post here. Finally fixed everything and i think my stream has pretty decent quality, so i decided to stream as often as i play PB. The problem is, i cant really have a schedule due to univ, so i will post here everytime i stream.
I have been trying to commentate aswell, but its much more difficult than expected, so i suck at it ^^. Tho i am at least trying, so that counts, right? (pls!!)
Hopefully someone will be interested and i will try to improve my commentating aswell. Tho its not the problem i dont know what to say, its that i forget about it or playing while talking confuses me ^^.
If you have suggestion where else/other i should post that i stream, let me know. I hope you dont mind that i will spam this thread a little.

GG you really turned up after those first 2 maps we played
-
What are you talking about? We finished the match and you were only 2 there, nobody asked us for rm so i left.
If you are talking about sth different, than i have no idea what lol.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=turn+up
I guess you could mean that i was lagging? Thats probably the closes i was able to get. Anyway, if i was, just tell me and i will shut it down immediately.
Honestly, idk, just let me know what you meant...
-
He means 'turned up' as in. You 'turn up the volume', he means 'You turned up the skill'. Might be a British phrase. :)
I got so annoyed on the last map - Carpathian. I wasn't allowed to use my mic because my brother was trying to revise, so I had to type everything. We normally loose carp, so it was vital that our communication needed to be as good as possible. Unfortunately, it did not work out. Carpathian is a team map.
Despite the last map, was a really good match. You played very well on framework!
Look forward to matching vs vT again.

I guess it might be british, no idea.
Ye, i felt kinda bad for you on carp. Tho i have to say, your teamplay is improving quite a bit. I noticed you have these strategies you try to execute, like one rushes while the others just try to defend and react to the rusher (at least on carp, dunno actually on framework i think you have a little 'deeper' ones on framework as it wasnt that easy to read :p).
A little tip, you need to keep control of opponents cave by lining it from your pyramid/the small window. You should always have 1 lining it, that way countering rushes is much harder. The way i noticed you play, was that one was siting pyramid (no idea how you call it, i hope you know what i mean) and covering mid, well thats not bad strategy but not from the start, in the beginning you need to line opponents cave and then reacting to situation switch your position to cover mid.
One thing i noticed about framework, is that the glass way (to FG) is really strong. And there is basically a guaranteed trade if you get there with flags and you have recon. There is basically no option for counterplay once you are behind on grabbing and even if you are not, you have to put a lot of effort into countering the enemy if he goes straight for trade (which i think is bad thing, because why should you put effort into countering him, if he is the one iniciating trade).
I think you could put some kind of switch to the base to open for like 20-30 secs, that would allow nading that way from below.
And i think adding a small path, which could be lined from midroof into glass path would help solve the "effort" thing.
PS:Spain told me that i was lagging in the beginning, did you notice that aswell or did it stop later into the game? He told me so first round on carp.

Just out of curiosity how many people actually watch your dp streaming?
-
When picky plays then there are usually around 1k viewers.

That's me, so he doesn't feel sad.

I knew someone would use that 1k to change it to 1.
You are so predictable Spain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i was streaming a week or 2 ago, i had like 3-5 viewers (so many right? :D), my top viewers count was about 13 i think ^^. Yday i had 2-3, but i had to shut the stream down because i was starting to lag quite a lot.
-
Probably because you paste links on IRC when IRC is nowhere near what it used to be. Most teams use skype/ts3/pubs to find matches. If all active players actually still used IRC and saw you posting your stream links for matches against teams they were interested to watch, I'm assuming you'd get 15-25 viewers, occasionally maxing out at 40-50.
-
I'd be shocked if he could get 20, I'd excrement my self if he got 50.
-

Muwahaha, time for some viewer botting ^^, but ye i have to say that 50 viewers in PB would mean that there are people outside PB community watching, that would be quite shocking. I doubt there would actually be 50 people from this community interested to watch streamed/commentated PB match. Altho, i guess in some sort of tournament like GG DPL was it might hit that peek.
I guess you are right about the IRC, but i dont wanna spam everyones skype/icq with it. I just post on the public boards/chats.
-
Moved my channel to other name.
http://www.twitch.tv/prozajik
I might get back into it streaming most of the matches, fixed most of my lag issues and i think the quality is pretty much as good as it gets for FPS.
-
I think it would be really nice to have a sheduled match with casting. Maybe the holiday tournament :), I actually put up a stream myself (i figured out it's really easy---).
Anyway I really enjoy your stream :)

Unfortunately, easier said than done. PB isn't that active and if i scheduled something, i would need to get some random 2s/3s fun. Otherwise we use voice recon for real matches, so commentary is out of question for these. I might try to do some 1s with commentary and i might even be able to schedule 1 once a day. But no idea how it all turns out.
Good luck with your stream tho, would be cool to have stream with commentary for the tourney ;).
And thanks man, glad someone liked it, i will try to make sure to bring more and hopefully get some with commentary too :)
-
Thank you, my channel is http://www.twitch.tv/ampholyt (http://www.twitch.tv/ampholyt). Note that I'm all kinds of unexperienced. I really should pratice casting then :D, I already did it for fun for some random pub games in Dota 2, but keeping track of the action in Dp is probably harder.

Some tips for you guys, if you wanna get into streaming with OBS:
1)Encoding bitrate should be around 1800 for 720p stream, along with advanced setting x264 CPU preset at 'fast'
2)Never change your native resolution Aspect Ratio. I have some old monitor and was streaming at 720, while changing aspect ratio from 8:5 to 16:9, destroyed the quality tremendously. Took a while to figure this one out tho.
3)If you are dropping frames, use custom buffer size at encoding and use high number as possible which doesn't cause you to drop frames (you need to lower the custom buffer)
4)If it says "high encoding" you need to adjust the advanced x264 CPU preset to lower setting (eg. from fast to faster)
5)Right now i am experimenting with 60 fps stream, my CPU seems to be struggling with it, but i hope i will figure something out. If you guys have any question about streaming you can message me pretty much anywhere.
-
ok i'll try it! I just have problems with my upload..I can't play with 500+ Ping so i think i can't stream for now :D
-
1800 is way too low for 720p. A true quality 720p/30 fps is about 3500. And if you do 60 fps you need to raise it up even more to about 3750-4000 to get it looking near perfect. That being said not everyone can watch streams at that high of bitrate. The best quality i ever got out of my stream for DP was using the avermedia livegamer HD capture card. This got the best looking picture with the least amount of pixelation when moving around. Also the preset fast or faster is okay depending on what your cpu can handle for encoding. Medium or slower will give you the best quality but it will eat up a good chunk of cpu. I have a 2600k oc'd at 4700mhz and cpu usage still spikes up to 90%+ with the medium or slower preset. If the cpu usage spikes too high you will start dropping frames, so that needs to be played around with.

I agree, tho fast is usually what you want given you are aiming for best quality possible as long as your CPU can handle it. Ofc going for medium or sth better is good, but thats not what most of the processors are capable of.
On the bitrate note, yea i am streaming with 2800 atm, going for the 60 fps stream. Unfortunately i was running into fream skipping issue, but i was able to somewhat fix that by lowering a buffer size. I might try something little higher, to see what happens, i have never increased the bitrate over 3k i think. Suggested quality for 720p/30 fps is around 2500 bitrate i think, but paintball is really high motion so might not be that easy.
Thanks for the input btw, that avermedia card sounds pretty cool, but i wont most likely get it ^^
