I don't have much time, so I'm looking for small things I can implement quickly that you guys think are important.
A few things I think are probably important and wouldn't take long to implement off the top of my head:
- Improve first-play experience a bit more
- Improve tutorial.
- In-Game registration.
- Complete more highres textures.
- Screen resolution auto-detect
- Remember window settings such as window and size and maximized state.
- Menu settings for full screen windowed mode and custom resolution sizes.
- Begin implementing in-game IRC
- More bot development:
- Allow eliminated players to possess bots (So if you're just playing with bots, you're not forced to watch them try to finish the round while you wait).
- Re-implement bot commands (so they can change teams and such)
- Ladder support.
Long-term next big features would probably be things that focus on in-game community and competitive play, like friends lists, ranking, and match making, but those aren't trivial to add.
-
Anything except bots. Thx
-
3 things
1- Unban Navy from the forums.
2- ban Multiaccounts like Dooci
3- Get rid of obvious hackers like Fzx.
Inb4 hate comments from Myerz, Chem and Tini Lelel

This. Also, Fix the nades please. Broken as intercourse. Im sure everyone can agree to that. If anyone disagrees to that, its like saying laws of physics dont exist.

Screw ranking, I think DPleague finishes in some weeks (maybe 2?) :D
Screen setting remembering is a nice idea, so I dont have to maximize my dp2 window all time :D
Also, please fix that bug (I noticed it first) wich doesnt allow some special chars like $ as a password input (at client).
You should also fix the smoke nades, as ToxiiC said.
Yes, Im definetly for more highres textures (HR16 would be epic).
And, can you add some more admin tools?
Like forcing a player to go on a specified team,
Messages (Like: The match begins now! , not Admin: The Match begins now)
Aaaand.... idk more.
Hope ppl have nice ideas, that will increase game popularity.
Respect.

- Show complete (fun-)names in menus ('manage players' for example)

Btw, please add utf-8 charset support, multilanguage support (I can translate into romanian, hungarian, german).
This would improve firstplay experience A LOT!
(What do new players think about a game wich is english only?)

Adding utf-8 support wouldn't be trivial, and would likely break existing funnames and such.

just make a new tutorial man. When I first played this game.. I got the tutorial, noticed there were a ton of words and poor textures and then I immediately walked away. Came back and then I just tried it and I couldn't even do the first jump. Then I was trying to close the game and couldn't figure out how. Took me a total of 5 minutes to hit every button on my computer until I reached the top left corner and luckily hit Esc. First hand play is so bad new players don't even know how to join a game or even disconnect from the game, etc. The tutorial is also too hard for a new player IMO. P.S: i was 11

That's not an issue with PB. Every game uses ESC to bring up main menu, seriously using this as an argument,...what else to say to that, probably nothing -.- .
Anyway, agree with this

Whoever thinks a real matchmaking like in Cs:go, Dota2, LoL etc. could work in Dp ridicules himself. The player pool is far too limited. A ELO system could work though.
Getting IRC and Friendlist inside the client might be difficult, but it should be possible to open a browser window instead.
EDIT:
I think we don't need a new tutorial, but more tutorials that act like a single player mode. And please give us to map/create single player maps with bots etc. that would be awesome!

Anyone can make a translation.
Just edit pball/menus/*.*

Here's what happens when you try to use Russian text:

I've attached the menu file if you want to see for yourself.

You are wrongs, cs:go and Dota2's matchmaking are moslty about 5vs5, based on elo and players " hided elo ".
The matchmaking i'd like to see on dp, would just be something for smaller scrim like ( 2vs2 / 3vs3 and even 1vs1 would work). That would be really useful, and you wouldnt need to go on everyserver and leave a message every mins to find a match. It would probably makes pub players starting to teaming up and easily find matches. If we are actualy able to find matches just on pubservers, why wouldnt it work if teams that want to match register to that ONE matchmaking?
And also, for the tutorial part, i really think this game actually need more players before making feature for it. So no Rockyar, i really do not want jitspoe to work on advanced tutoriats, but to start working on something that will improve the amount of players rather than making the small amount of players better.

Exactly. That' why I want UTF-8 support.
Seriously, it rly isnt trivial, but it would be still nice to allow players to communicate on their own language's charset. :D
And the funnames? Well, i think people should begin changing their colored, other-font, symbol-containing funname to something simplier (just colors). Seriously, none of the popular games uses funnames (okay, okay this is q2, but it would be still an awesome feature(and disbling complicated funnames would be nice too(maybe add a feature in the client, wich gives the player the ability to choose between UTF-8 and complicated funnames)))

I think this could be the next big feature of Digital Paint: Paintball 2 in 2015: http://dplogin.com/dplogin/featurevote/feature.php?id=10119 :P
But seriously, I like these:
- In-Game registration.
- Complete more highres textures.
- Screen resolution auto-detect
- Remember window settings such as window and size and maximized state.
- Menu settings for full screen windowed mode and custom resolution sizes.
- Begin implementing in-game IRC

I know, i mean you can simply skip some chars in Polish for example :)
So "Dołącz do gry" would be "Dolacz do gry"

To my knowledge Matchmaking means having equally strong teams but what you proposed is of course possible. And like I said before, one would have to use something like ELO points for that, if you actually want a rank system with that as well. So some player with, idk maybe, 2000 ELO plays against someone with 300 ELO. 2000 ELO guy loses, 300 ELO guy gets rewarded 50 points, 2000 ELO guy wins he gets 5 points (with balanced figures of course).
Also I agree with you on most points anyway. So no need to discuss further.

Exactly. That' why I want UTF-8 support.
Not to bash your idea, but sadly, this has already been discussed and jits says this:
No, that would be a rather large undertaking. It would be possible to support a few accented characters and such that are supported by the basic 8-bit ascii character set, but it would mean removing most of the current funname stuff. Pretty much the whole Quake2 architecture is based around 8-bit character strings, so switching over to 16-bit or utf-8 would require revamping all of the string related functionality and would potentially double the bandwith required for sending strings over the network.
That said, if you want to vote for something related to improving the font system, go here: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=15095

Heh heh, I noticed that.
Thx for that link
Btw jitspoe, explain me something.
Why does Pb2 lagg(high ping) for me on a German server (Im hungarian, from Hungary), w/o UTF-8 charset.
Why doesnt TF2 lagg(high ping) for me on a NA server, with UTF-8.
Seriously, if you would optimize the server_launcher, there wouldnt be as many lagg problems, and excrement as now.

are you high?
I'm not sure what you think character encoding does, but the source engine (tf2) has a lot more modern netcode with prediction and lag compensation, so you'd not notice your higher ping anywhere near as much.

utf8 support is useless.
I would like to see some ingame match server rent tool and an IRC client with ingame notification popups.

Add an option for 144Hz refresh rate please.
It isn't that important, but I assume it wouldn't take long to add.

Does that not work already? If you don't specify the refresh rate, it should use whatever the refresh rate is set by windows. Only applies when you use vsync. You can specify it with r_displayrefresh -- or did you just mean add it to the menu?

Just meant add it to the menu. The majority of people won't know the commands. I will double check tonight but I didn't think it was picking up the refresh rate automatically.

+ optimize the Linux version because it's crappy :(

Ah, yeah, that'll be in the next version.
