Could anyone recommend me a lightweight irc client, something one may use at work etc? Portable would be nice too :)

The one Nick has is probably perfect for you, but if you ever wanted to directly connect to the ggc IRC server in a browser very quickly, you can use this: http://www.globalgamerscenter.net/pjirc/chat.php.  (Requires Java)
