Well before i install ubuntu linux, does anyone have any pointers or suggestions? My ears are open!

Make sure that you have anything and everything you could possibly want or need backed up.  That goes for whenever you are (re)installing an OS.  Also, make sure you have the computer plugged into the internet.  No matter how new the CD is, you will always have updates to install.

what distro are you using and what hardware are you putting it on?

distro? and hardware wise not much, enough to run dp and bsp, but none of the high quality games the computer i will be geting was once used by the bmv for who knows what, and will prolly have alot of everything but a graphics card and hardrive but w/e. What aspects of transition will be affected by my hardware? at the very least i can tell u it is no running XP...

Distro = "Distribution" - in other words "Ubuntu," or "Kubuntu," or "Edubuntu," etc.

    i will be using it for small school reports graphic design stealing music aim web surfing and trying once more to learn c++

Visual studio express is much easier to use than anything you can get for linux, in my opinion.

I still haven't found a Linux IDE similar to MS VS or DevC++ (I know there is a Linux version, its on a CD I have to buy). Or rather, gotten one to work.
