Jits didn't really do his job well.

First, update your drivers.

If that doesn't work, get a new video card.

Also, it's something you've done annoyingly often. Noobs who can't do the simpleist thinges shouldn't be allowed to play the game!

Define simple.

I can turn up my gamma card giving me excellent vision in dark places. Update your video card. Just like I should update my OS to stop dp from crashing? HIPO..  nuf said.

In my opinion, gamma jacking is somewhat of an exploit. Dark places are dark because they were meant to be dark. It's almost comprable to making player models more visible.

Right.  There's a configuration guide on the gamma screen.  Paintball2 is designed for sRGB.  The gamma configuration is there because not all monitors are properly calibrated for sRGB, or they were at one point, but have begun to fade.  It's not there so you can crank it up as bright as it will go in order to have an advantage.  You're on the honor system for that, as there's no way to detect how bright people's monitors are.  In the future, I plan to make a more proper step-by-step gamma configuration so that you can properly set the graphics up exactly as they were designed to appear.  Rather than a simple gamma slider, it will be a series "adjust this until these two colors match" configuration screens.

I understand, I have understood. Take a page from the AAO (again). Despite gamma settings the game will restrict any attempt as described. light up more than was intended.

Untill then......

Jitspoe they can upgrade video card to do as needed with less cost then upgradeing OS. Again what is easier. Think beond this forums typical posters. Bain you get +1 for being helpful.

Besides what negetive effect does the OS user perfer have? Subject to crashing, due to what? Anyone,  help.

I'm not quite sure what you're going on about...

Not necessarily.  Most new video cards cost considerably more than an OS.  Some systems have the video card built into the motherboard and can't even be updated at all.  Some old systems don't have AGP slots, so they can't be updated either.  You'd have to get a whole new system, and if you did that, you'd have the new OS on it anyway.  In many, if not most, cases, a new OS would be easier and cheaper, but I don't know what point you're trying to make.

Uh... Bain didn't even post in this thread.

Windows 9x has always been subject to crashing.  If that's the OS you prefer, then I guess you prefer having stuff crash a lot.  That's your choice.  There's nothing I can do about that.

Uh, what?  What does that have to do with OpenGL drivers?  If you want to request a new jumping feature, please post a new thread in the appropriate forum.

Bans himself from posting late, sorry. I could not sleep, that mixed with the fact that I can not never (gramma) do nutin right. :) sorry.

1. ok, how much is a good new cost OS $150? vs a minor upgrade card in APG PCI or PCI express ? That is what I was thinking about
2. bain, yeah I was refering to him be helpful in the past
3. ok, I have official had it win WIN98se, but not for the reason you mentioned. Americas Army's newest version forgot somthing about win98 users and thus I can not connect to servers :( nor can I create a new account
4. was hopeing someone would explain jumping as per previous posts, playing with myself for hours is not a good enough anwser. I have so many questions, that for this forum sake, I will withdraw. :)  ..........for now.

Don't get a new OS. As jits said, if you bought the computer with Win98 on it, it's probably too old to handle a decent video card, Let alone a newer OS.
