Vista Problem?
« on: March 12, 2008, 04:01:35 PM »
I recently put Vista Ultimate on my comp (yeah yeah I know, shut up) and installed my vid card drivers and everything. DP won't run though, I get the opengl error. I got the newest drivers from ATI and the catalyst center too. The info on it says it's got opengl installed. So far this is the only problem I've had on vista, I'm having dp withdrawals though. I know some of you have had a problem like this because I did some searching around, but no solid answer. Any help would be cool. I put two pics of what I'm talking about. BTW, my vid card is a 512MB ATI Radeon x1650.

ATI cards are a pain.  First thing you should try to do is update your video drivers.

I did, newest ones. There's no omega drivers for vista yet. I got the drivers directly from ati.com

That's what she said.

Since you have an ATI card, my first bet is to blame their typically-crappy drivers.  Do you have any other OpenGL applications you could try?  You might also have to enable hardware acceleration somewhere.  I don't use vista, so I'm not sure what settings it has.

yeah all the hardware accelerations are at max. I guess it's the crappy drivers. I kinda figured that would be it. I guess I have to wait. darn

You might try older drives.  ATi drivers are hit or miss.  If you find some that work, don't touch them.
