Won't let me use my clan tag

I recently made a clan for me and my friends and the tag is {eX.Sp} I put that at the beginning of my name in menu setup_funname except its yellow and blue. I get kicked everytime I try to join a game and it gives me this message:

Your name is too long.  Take off the funnames and everything will work

How come I see other people with colors in their names that were longer then the one I had?

there is a total charactor limit of 23 or 24 charactors for your name.  If you add color to a charactor, that color takes up 2 charactors plus thecharactor you are coloring for a total of 3. Your name is already 15 charactors long.  If you start coloring it, it gets long really fast.

Hmm well I've seen people with I know names that are longer then 15 characters and they are multicolored! I don't get it

oh. too bad for me. well arent clan tags supposed to automatically go onto ur name cuz it doesn't for me.

No they don't. It's something you have to manually do. If you really want to use colors I would suggest requesting a change in your tag. You also have up to ten? names you can add to your account. If you like your tag then do as stated above and make a shorter name.

Person logs in with a nick that has a clan tag in it.
Server scans nick and automatically detects the clan tag.
Server looks up whom is allowed to use the clan tag.
Server kicks if user is not allowed.

A clan tag doesn't become part of your user name but you combine the username and clantag when setting a nickname in-game.
