NewMap: Noidea
« on: August 09, 2008, 05:50:28 AM »
Been making a map lately, but now i have no idea what to use to fill up some of the areas.

I know theres some texture/brush errors but just ignore those.
Also the map will be flipped, that is why there is only 1 base there.

The flag will sit on top of that Wooden plank in the base.

If you have any ideas of "filler" then please post them.
Structures, plants etc.

not sure about filler sorry,  some new plant models came out but most dont fit for this. but barrels and boxes are always good :P btw can you upload textures/rick/hr4/aus.jpg?
a few things though. the wooden ladder that you climb to get into the "house" near the mid is way too thick, doesnt look that good. and on the side that has water on the last slope to the top the brush is misaligned. there are also some half-floating boxes on the side without the water (with the wooden ramp leaning on it)

uh, Rick, that texture needs to be 256x256 or 512x512, or it will have some oddddddddd dimensions in game.

Mr. Expert:

If the dimensions aren't as stated above, it will have a hard time meshing with other textures correctly.

Um is that the fuzzyness around the outside of the texture?

I might change it later on but for now it's staying until I finish filling my map :D

Edit: Some filler

3rd pic is what im working on atm. Its the top of the walls. Trying to curve them in to get a good effect with the sun.

If the dimensions aren't power-of-two, the image will get scaled to the closest power of two.  The scaling algorithms aren't that great, so the result usually looks pretty bad.  Also, make sure you're making a hr4 version of the texture, then using the 1/4 resolution version on the map for alignment.

I'll be back working on this soon. Just a quick question, I've noticed in bsp, when you use the rotate function, that even if you lock the textures they still move out of position. Is there a way to actually lock the textures so this wont happen?

Never thought I would be back in this thread but yeah.

I need some feedback on everything =]

Need to fix:

-Boxes on one side.
-A weird graphical error(Ramp on purple side)
-Barrels on Purple side
-Maybe make the plank a lil longer/shorter

Sorry no screenshots at the moment. I'll add some when im not busy.

MY EYES, THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!!!
I really like how the map seems, maybe add a few rocks, or icicles (did I spell that right) protruding from the ground.
I'm pretty sure you know about that section in your map where some things go crazy, look at the screenshot.
I also have to say, in the second screenshot, that plank actually looks pretty weird like that, maybe extend it a bit or shorten it.

ps: thanks for the positive comments on dodgebrawl, I'm musik

That weird graphical error is something I havent seen before but will try to fix when I compile it again.
