Figured I'd try to make something since it didn't seem there were many people participating, and I wanted to see more pong maps.

Right, this ended 3 hours ago :P

If the judges could please download the 3 entry maps, judge them with a rating out of 10 on each of the criterea laid out in the first post, a short explanation for each rating, and then PM me the answers by Friday please.

Hopefully this won't take the full 3 weeks the last contest did.

Thankyou for all the entries :D

maybe you should have people say they are competing before the comp., or sign up so you know how many are participating :-/

This topic is a good indicator.  Would it really matter anyway, knowing that who is participating?  If you want to summit a map, it wouldn't really matter who is participating.

Maybe you should make the competition two or three months in length. >_>

I agree with Eiii.
One month is not enough to make a good map, one can hardly make a decent map in that time.

Laged has withdrawn from judging, thankyou to Reed for stepping in. Don't worry, he's already arguing with Dagless over each map :D

I just uploaded all 3 entries to 3iob Pub.  I put each map on with a few people in the pub, and everyone agrees that cusomans map is the best one, followed by ricks, then jitspoes.  Although all 3 of them do have problems.

Sorry Jitspoe, but your map isn't even playable.  The ball falls every 2 seconds, the long tunnels that are supposed to shoot you over to the base don't work ( the ball just stops at the end and falls ), people constantly got stuck in the tunnels.  Looks decent but no one will ever look at it for more than 2 minutes unless alot of that is fixed.

Ricks map only had 1 fault that we found while playing, sometimes when a door closes on you, you fall through the map.  It is very easy to get lost in though, a few too many doors?

And finally Cusos map only had a few very minor issues, like some places the roof is a little too low, but thats about it.  EVERYONE in the pub seemed to love Cusos map, including me.

Cuso    #1
Rick     #2
Jitspoe #3

In about 95% of the people that were in the pubs opinion.

a) SuperMan and "the pub" are not the judges
b) there's more to the judging than just gameplay

On a sidenote, jitspoe's map was fun after getting used to it, the long tunnels worked perfectly fine for me etc ;)

Before I was a judge I told him that his gameplay was good, but there are 2 other judges and all 3 maps are judged on aesthetics and technical factors too! I don't know what the result will be but good luck to all the entrants!
