lag
« on: January 11, 2006, 08:36:38 PM »
So I opened digitalpaintball to play today and it seems I'm lagging alot, I usually never lag especially on low specs games like this one (no offense) but I am skipping all over the place and I don't know how to fix it, I tryed disk clean up, I scanned for viruses, I even closed all other running programs and it still wont stop lagging, does anyone know what could be wrong?

When you say lag do you mean you are getting low FPS/frame spikes, or your latency (ping) to the server is high?

Umm.... I'm not sure, when I play offline there is no lag but when I go in anyones server theres lag for me not for other people, it doesn't matter how many people are in the room I get the same amount of lag.

If you do "seta cl_drawfps 1" in console, what kind of FPS are you getting?  When you bring up the scores with tab, what kind of ping do you have?

I dont think you can look at your own ping by doing that and Whenever I type seta cl_drawfps 1 nothing happens.

Actually when I type that stuff in console it says 60 FPS Whenever I move. Also when I do stuff like pick up a gun or crouch etc. It takes like twice as long to do it which end results in getting shot.

That's your problem.  Pings that high are basically unplayable.

If its only happening in DP, and happening on all DP servers, all I can think of is to check that your cmdrate and such weren't accidentally changed.  Otherwise it's probably a routing problem and there's not much you can do beyond calling your ISP to bug them about it or waiting and hope it resolves itself.
