Should new players be able to start a clan?
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:42:57 PM »
I am just curious on what some would think about putting restrictions on new players starting clans. In no way am I saying they can't make one but if creating a clan required certain things, such as....

Maybe like names you can't just leave the clan right away. You would be required to stay with it for a certain amount of time. Heck, this would even be beneficial for other clans as well. Then they would have to be more selective when letting someone in.

Require people to have a cool down period between clans. This way they can not just clan hop or join for just one match.

All in all I would like some discussion in here regarding a way to cut down on the over creating of clans by new players.

I would say ppl should be able to make a clan when they are able to join and stay in mIRC.

I think they should be able to, or else it would be unfair for them if they can't join any other clans, but I like the idea of staying in a clan for a certain amount of time so they can't just create a clan then leave.

I agree. I would think a good time would be 25 days.

New players shouldn't be able to start a clan until they have been a member for 3 weeks in my opinion.

There should also be a limit to the amount of people in a clan, maybe 20 people?

Be glad for them. They allow noobs to have a clan without going out and registering a new clan tag.

wasn't there a feature vote thread or something about this? I know there was at least another thread, lemme go see.

edit: hmm, can't find it, but it talked about times/limits for 'clan-hopping,' etc.  Anyone know where it is?

I think everyone starts off making clans, and not really understanding that a clan matches and has forms of contact with there members. In all cases I think experience in making nooby clans teaches some how to make a good clan. When I first started off I believe I made .KsS^, which had 30+ members and not really a good way to contact them. But I've learned, and I've understood the basics of clans. (Ventrilo, mIRC, matching better clans)

So let them make their clans with tags like T*W*O*F (idk) and let them learn about clans until they decide to JOIN a clan, get some clan experience, and start getting to know the community. Heck, maybe in the future they can be an asset to our community.

I was also thinking that maybe when you register an account, there can be like some kind of post describing the creat clan feature. Maybe tell them what a clan in this game does. Maybe give links to ventrilo and mIRC, let them have a chance to read and understand what they are making. Just a thought.
