Putt-Putt's Maps-----Betas
« on: May 16, 2009, 01:22:42 PM »
Can y'all look at these 3 maps and criticize them to your best ability?

Please post a scrnsht of what your talking about.

AND PLEASE DON'T act like you know every thing and say something needs to be fixed when it really doesn't.

Thanks

The Koth map is my very first map, so it has been reviewed several times, just not via forums, i sent it to a friend and they viewed it, so it might not have as many problems with it. There are no flags in it, even tho it is named koth, because i dont know how to make the game settings koth, and how to make the flag koth.

The Field map is my newest one and my best one.

The Jump map is my first jump map, and the tri-jumps are too far apart. So that part i already know. Just do the map obs so you can go noclip and go over it.

It would've been better to make different threads for each of these maps so when people discuss them there not in the same thread.

As for the Z-match-field-map it's way too small, and gameplay on there wouldn't work. You have to think about where the teams would spawn; you could just spawn and line across the map to the other teams spawn. How would you grab the flag and cap without getting lined? Also outside the map is all that open space, it's not needed. Can't even see this map working in a 1v1, let alone a match or a pub.

Keep working, take an example from other maps and notice how the gameplay works, and take a look at the filling in the maps.

I think, before you do anything else, you need to work on lighting.

Yeah, post some screen shots for Christ's sake.

And the "no CAPS in file name" advice is great advice.

ok, i saw how in some maps, the light from the sky textures were coming at an angle, and that the windows would create little rectangles of light/shadow, how do they do these things, and things like this?

thanks jitspoe
