video card issues in windows 7
« on: June 15, 2009, 01:56:41 PM »
My video card is causing the "opengl incompatible" error on startup.

I have the ATI Radeon x1950 Pro using the ATI 8.56.1.13 drivers.

I'm running windows 7 RC build 7100 64 bit.

I'm curious if this is because my card is now considered Legacy by AMD and they don't have 64 bit Windows 7 Drivers available.

Anything I might be missing here?  This is the first time I havn't been able to run dp since '99 (as a Quake2 mod)... ;)

Strike 1 - ATI Vid Card
Strike 2 - WIndows 7
Strike 3 - 64 bit.

Might want to find 64 bit XP drivers and see if they will work.

If you do get it working, please post how.

Strike 1 - ATI Vid Card
Strike 2 - WIndows 7
Strike 3 - 64 bit.

I'll accept the first two with grace, however I've got lots of other 32 bit games working perfectly.  Most (if not all) run DirectX though, so perhaps it's just an OpenGL thing.

Ok, Got it working 64bit Windows 7.

ATI released a '7 compatible Vista 64 driver.  So, installed that and set DP to Vista SP 2 compatibility mode and presto!

So, after 4 years of no DP, I'm really gonna suck..... :P
