Feature Request: Display Gun on HUD
« on: August 17, 2009, 03:34:56 AM »
Hi,
would it be possible to have the gun type still written in the left bottom??
I have the gun in the middle so I can't see the type of gun, and it's important to me.

I either do like Rocky said and shoot and see what gun I have, and since I'm not really used to the b27 sounds in the beginning of the round I change hands and then go back to the center hand.
It's easy since I have change hands on my mouse.

If you got to long shot someone a automag doesn't help  :P

You could just quickly swap hand position to left or right to find out what gun you have.

the beginning of the round I change hands and then go back to the center hand.

Exactly.

Two reasons why I am posting.
1. I find the idea to be a good one. Nothing negative about it.
2. I am disgusted by the replies. <-- not gonna tell why

Why do you guys LIKE swapping hands or wasting bullets just to know your own weapon? I've always hated that process in the game (I have my gun centered too).
And sometimes I forget to check my weapon.. which is really risky. This usually happens in pp1, where you'd think you picked up a weapon but really didn't.

cl_drawwepname

0. Disabled.
1. When centered.
2. Always.

If someone has a better idea, then go ahead.

I also use center hand. But I just shoot or cycle my hand, it's really not that difficult of a thing to figure out.

If it's important to one person in the community, it does not necessarily mean that it's important to others.

Trust me, that was not what I was talking about.

Edit: Let's not go off topic anymore.
I would like to see this implemented because it would help me focus on the more important things. Like, where are the rest of my team going and who got the grenades etc.
There are lots of things to take note off, I'd rather not give even a moment of thought to what gun it is that I'm carrying.

Shoot.
the gun sounds are still changing..

I was asking if there's some command which I could write in console to see which gun I'm carrying and then make a bind of it, or just rewrite something somewhere..
If not, I'd add it into "features". As you can see now it's in "help and support" it means: I'm not asking about your opinions but about help.

Just an aside... The MS script is very useful and I usually use MS2 or MS2X because you can pretty much always tell what you've got, and it helps your aiming :)

Do you think the hand switcher? If I used it, I would also use cl_gun 0, so it makes no difference..
And I don't think it helps aiming. I had it for 5 minutes and I had to switch it off.. It helps your lining when you're behind a wall and shooting over a corner.
