Feature: Windows 7 jump list compatibility
« on: October 26, 2009, 12:16:05 AM »
I just got Windows 7 ;D (well, on the 22nd actually)
and thought it would be cool if this game could use the new jump lists feature to keep track of recent servers i've visited. Ideally, it would also support pinning said servers to the top of the list.

Having said all that, I don't know how the jump list thing works as far as the API goes, so I don't know if my suggestion is even possible or not. Cool to think of, though.

Or why not even a little gadget, maybe make the server browser as a gadget.

I'm sure that match servers could even find it useful to make their own "Get Match Server" gadgets.

(sorry, sorta ramped your topic with different ideas  :P)

It'll probably be a while before I get Windows 7 (if I ever do), but I'll go ahead and add it to the feature vote list:

Maybe somebody else will work on it.

So I got a new computer and I finally have Windows 7.  What's a good example of a program with this functionality?

Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Firefox, Windows Explorer, Notepad, Photoshop CS4, Winamp ... and those are just the ones I have pinned to my taskbar.
Once the program has been used to open some files, its right-click menu will show those recent files. Of course, you have to have it pinned to the taskbar to see it.

You must have Firefox 3.7. You can get it here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/

Mine used to work, but I did a clean install from RC1 to Home Premium yesterday and now the Firefox jump list doesn't work...  Maybe best to get examples from different programs. :P

Jits: Check out steam.  If I remember correctly, they do all kinds of fancy stuff with the jump list.

I right click and just see:

Doesn't matter if it's pinned or not.  These just open the respective tabs in steam.

I should have paid more attention -- the things that show up the in Fx jump list are recent downloads. Sorry.

Huh, I though it displayed the games you recently played and such.
