Mapping Committee: Vote?
« on: May 29, 2011, 12:37:40 AM »
Hey, I was just wondering, after seeing Riddick's post, if there was some sort of vote that the community could do to determine which maps are looked over next? (To fix). Or a thread or something where the community could suggest maps to fix?

We don't really have anything like that in place yet, but feel free to throw out some maps you'd like to see fixed.

I was wondering about the map Banliue (http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=17210.0)

Would the map committee fix the advantages on a map like this? (Yellow has better guns, the lighting, etc.)

It's a fun map :)

Maybe some of the darker maps? Like perfugio. Use to have so much fun there, but it just didn't look very appealinb, especially when you turned brightness up to see :p Eh, I don't really have a list of maps, just thought it would be a cool idea.

Off-topic maybe, but has the mapping committee already published any fixed maps (like Selda did recently) ?

Nope, Chef-Killer had almost finished a complete ground-up rebuild and correction of wobluda when selda released his fixed one.

Will he still be releasing it? I'm guessing his would be a lot better than selda's fix and it would be a shame not to release it...

We fixed a few more stuff than selda did in his version. I think we'll release the map as soon as it's completely ready. Jitspoe is still planning something with it.

Hopefully something along the lines of a hidden sex room, only reason CARP is popular.

If there is a way to convert maps using md2 models from .bsp back to .map I will be able to fix one of my maps, but I have no longer .map version..

You could do a complete ground-up rebuild of the map :P

What map do you mean?

Chef, is there any possibility to winbspc to convert maps from .bsp to .map when the map includes models?

Maybe, but I've never heared about it. However, most of these converts from .bsp to .map ruin the file anyway. It's the worst solution to fix a map, that's why I don't like it.

Remove func_model entities from .bsp with notepad, convert with winbspc.

Doesn't crash winbspc this way? I mean, there would have been something wrong this way. Bad mapversion or something else...

I donĀ“t have any mapinfo file connected with this map either..I meant newdivide, there is some problem with the tree model I think, otherwise I like this map.

Pretty sure I did this with one of my maps, highlander, which had plants everywhere. bspc doesn't check mapversion, and it doesn't change any offsets because LUMP_ENTITIES is the last one in the file.

For me the tree works well. Do you mean the download of the script, because you forgot requiredfiles?
