Community Mapping Project
« on: May 13, 2013, 09:20:27 PM »
There was something very similar in the past (I think it was by mazing) but it never got finished. I'm not surre why this occured but, I'll try my best to stop it.

What is a Community Mapping Project?
It's where the community of mappers come together and work on a single map in turns. (Designing, mapping etc).

Why??
Well, I think it would be fun and the newer mappers can learn a bit more technique from those more experienced. Plus, it might actually get out of the beta phase! :P

How does it work!?
Well, I'll use this thread as a discussion point to see whether or not people actually want to participate. If all goes well, the people participating or the whole community can decide on a theme. After that, those that want to participate will collaborate and draw up a design. With everyone participating critiquing and adding their ideas we can surely come up with a very nice map design that will cater for noobs and pros. Then, we will take turns (maybe 3 days each) of actually constructing the map. OR, we could all design a base each and whichever we vote is the best, we continue from.

Mappers so far:
-RobinAndL!nk
-Viciouz
-Rockyar_96
-Rick

Mode of Map:
KOTH

Theme:
?

Is there anyone who would be interested in this?

I think what Vicouz meant is "Best idea ever, I can't wait to help out with it!"

I like the base idea, we should start on that.

I would much perfer a Zombie game-mode where when shot you turn into a different team with pgp... Zombies = PGP humans = better gun.

Would quite like to try and make a KOTH map that works. If it looks good and meets the criteria for the official map list, it could be put in the game, and maybe people would actually play KOTH. If it sucks, we can probably convert it to some other game mode easily enough.

I mean, all the game modes have at least one map that is worth playing right now, apart from KOTH:
DM - pb2dm1, arm
CTF - like 50 good maps and 1000s of excrement ones
1flag CTF - iunno, arenaball?
ELIM - dodgeball
SIEGE - siegecastle, zsiege, grave
PONG - soccer, otb_soccer

leaving 4 team ctf (gaaaay) and KOTH without any good maps :/

Also, theme suggestions?

I vote aztec, if we can pull that off with the pball textures.
