30 fps video recording - stuttering
« on: June 29, 2013, 11:36:14 AM »
Hey, guys. As topic says, when I record a video from pb (I use fraps) in 30 frames per second, it looks like I'm recording on calculator or something even worse(stutters as HELL). When I record 60 fps it looks normally, but it takes 2x more disk space. Why? Other games looks o.k. when I record them 30 fps...
That's a bit annoying.. Eyes hurt :/

idk why, but you could try making it a bit better by setting r_motionblur to 0.5 or 1 or something. might be gl_motionblur

Bono - fraps records raw frames (600MB for 10 sec, 60fps video).. and it has no options to set any codec.
ViciouZ - it still looks awful :/

You can check it. Run your game and type "cl_maxfps 30". Why this game stutters at 30 fps while other are smooth?

Hm.. do you record while playing or a demo? Kill some useless running processes, it helped me.

I'm running fraps & pb only. No background processes etc. And I'm recording while playing.

Is vsync turned on? (Try it with vsync turned on.)

Try to record a demo and then use fraps while watching it.

Vsync is on.
Recording a demo is identical as recording while playing :(

Try setting cl_maxfps to 0 and setting gl_swapinterval to 0 or 1 (try both).

gl_swapinterval 0 seems to look a bit better.. Is it simply vsync?

gl_swapinterval 0 disables vsync in-game (though it's still possible for drivers and other things to override that setting).
