JServerbrowser - Version: Alpha 0.2
« on: December 14, 2013, 05:21:28 PM »
I wrote this server browser for my mac os and want to share it with you.

Version: 0.2

Download: http://rockitude.de/downloads/programming/Serverbrowser.jar

You need to move the serverbrowser to ../Games/Paintball2 or the Join-Buttons won't work.

Are you volunteering to write the program in a different language?

I think this is one of the saddest things I have ever read.

Why would anyone write it again? It was already written in C++ (Terrorist?) and Delphi (me). If people wanted to use mine serverbrowser i would probably improve it...
So please don't say that there aren't versions that are not in Java, I personally hate fact that this is written in Java.

I'm not complaining that it's written in java and I'm not saying that someone should make a server browser in c++/c. I also never complained about there being no server browsers written in other languages.

Newb question: How do I make it work/open it?
I only get a folder when I download it, which inludes the data.

Not anything to you rockitude and your serverbrowser, but Java is big security hole, so I would advise against installing it if you don't want to be infected with random 0day. For similar reason people now stop making Flash objects... And that's why Java sucks.

I read just the Java Applets are unsafe, but normal desktop applications are fine.

Don't take it personal, I just added players that first came in my mind. I didn't want to upload a pic of a friendlist without friends.

Yeah it's applets in the browser that have all the exploits not program's you download just scan then and treat them as an .exe security wise.

Anyway awesome job the freinds feature is sweet.

I would say better be safe than sorry. But of course, it should be fine just to disable applets (i'm not into java security tho).
You could have developed it in C# tho, so you would be out of any suspicions :P .

program can have exploit too, and treating it as an exe won't help, as IDA doesn't work on java files (I tend to check myself exe before running it from unknown source). You shouldn't really trust any executables you run in first place ;P .

I see no need for this. I will just change the sorting from nickname to status. You won't have that much online friends anyway.

Edit: With online friends I mean actually playing friends with status ONLINE.
