New Graphic Card
« on: August 12, 2014, 08:16:56 AM »
hello nerds.

i switched from my old geforce gtx 460 se to a radeon r9 280 graphic card and my fps in PB are worse.
is it possible to increase the fps? internet says the r9 is much better than the geforce 460 se,  [ http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280-vs-Gainward-GeForce-GTX-460 ]

ps. i havent found a topic like this in the search function, sorry if there is already one.

Worse as in... 500fps instead of 1000fps or worse as in unplayably low?  Is it locked at 60fps?  Maybe you have vsync enabled?

fps are pretty unstable, sometimes i get 500 (for like 1 or 2 seconds) and sometimes it gets under 100. i just wonder that the old card works better than the new one.
and no, 100fps are not enough for pb :D

whats vsync?

Check graphic card drivers, if u have latest update.
i think i got every driver, there is just one more desktop driver i need.

is it possible that some old stuff from the nvidia card is blocking the new AMD?

You could try running one of those driver cleaners just to be sure, but I think those problems usually come about when you've installed multiple versions of a driver for the same product.

At what point does the framerate drop?  Also, make sure you don't have any programs running in the background eating up CPU cyles (virus scanners, etc.).  Those might be causing framerate hits.

I had a problem with my fps getting too high and it would lag.  I have to cap mine at 500 fps.  You could try that, cl_maxfps 500

Just cap fps at 120, no benefit past there anyways :)
