Because it makes a big mess of the discussion.  Some people want to read and contribute valid ideas on how to improve the game.  It's difficult to do when you have to sift through a bunch of posts that are pointless, off topic, trolls, responses to trolls, etc.  Plus, things tend to get out of hand quickly.  It's better to delete a couple troll posts than have a giant flame fest for 10 pages where people are all at each other's throats.
