getting kicked from servers
« on: June 16, 2020, 05:45:45 AM »
Hi everyone,

I'm getting kicked from servers after a couple of minutes.
I've read other posts here about it but there never really was a solution.

These are the messages on the console when it happens:

Line exceeded 1024 chars, discarded.
TheShellshock67 failed hardware check.
corrupt, modified, or missing files. you may need to reinstall.
You were kicked from the game!

This happens on all servers i tried to play on.
I've tried reinstalling the game, which did not fix this issue.
Also i read that Avira could be annoying the game, so i excluded the installation directory from the realtime scanner.
I also allowed explicitly the paintball2.exe executable/process.
I installed it on the system C:\ drive, i also tried it on a secondary D:\ SSD drive and even an iSCSI drive which comes from a server.

None of these attempts worked.
Weird thing is, a friend of mine who i wanted to play with has almost the same computer.
Be it with windows 7 and a gtx970.
There it works flawlessly, and we installed it together.

System specs:

Windows 10 Pro : 10.0.18363 18363.815 (1909)
Core i7 4790K @ 4.3GHz
32GB of ddr3 RAM
2x Samsung 850 PRO 256GB SSD
Gigabyte GTX780
Asus Xonar d1 sound card

If there is any more information i could gather to solve this issue, i would like to hear it.

Thanks in advance

Do you have tons of peripherals connected? There are some reported cases where disconnecting external drives or other usb devices has helped. Join the discord chat for quicker responses.

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

I'll try tomorrow if when i disconnect devices it helps.

Are these USB devices or are you talking about headsets and all other peripherals?

Thanks

USB devices. Though just to be sure, you could try first with the bare minimum peripherals and start reattaching your devices one by one to see which one might cause the problem.

Hi,

I tried with discoupled headsets.

Only things i have coupled now are disks, vga, sound, network ,mouse and keyboard

pretty much the minimum.

is there anything else to try?

thanks in advance

This is a bug I need to fix.  It typically happens when people have like 5+ drives in their system.  If you can disconnect some drives, you might get it to work, otherwise you'll have to wait until I get a patch out.

Hi jitspoe,

loud and clear!

I'll try to disconnect some iSCSI ones.

If you ever need someone to test these things, just let me know.

Thanks!

Can you please elaborate about this bug? The fact that having some number of drives can crash the game sounds pretty sketchy, gives some spyware vibes.

I believe it is part of the anti-cheat code. It doesn't actually crash the game, just doesn't expect numerous harddrives and thus fails hardware check => thinks you are cheating.

i am having this problem as well. but I had 5 drives so i removed the daemon virtual disk drive and now my drive count is 4.
However when i still join a server i fail the hardware check. This is also happening on a local server that i host

edit: removing multiple usb devices from the devices and hardware tab in the control panel didn't help

This should be addressed now if you use the latest build.  Let me know if you're still having problems.
