Water walking
« on: August 11, 2006, 11:18:20 AM »
What about a sound so you know when somebody is walking in water? i know that you already can hear when they get in/out but to be able to hear them walk in it would rock.

There is a sound from tremoulous we could use if nobody can record one

Do we need some Jesus player models to accompany the walking on water effect?

The sound would not come from walking 'in water' per say but actions you make going in and out of the water's surface right?. But yeah an enhancement would be nice. I guess you would need some sort of way to tell if the water is shallow enough to make a sound loud enough to be heard through walls and across distances. Never got why you can hear water splashing through walls etc.  ;)

I wonder why someone splashing water or jumping can traveling through solid objects? It seems funny physics, but it is a helpful tool. Perhaps too useful.

Poor newbs walking into deep water and then being heard via sound recon. Never have I encountered a map where walking / running in waist deep water (or more) was ever helpful. Can you say easy pickings?

Ok lets say Jitspoe did, which I am not against.  What maps were you thinking of? That this would be useful for? Or was it more for future maps not yet made? Curious to see some simple suggestions. Can you post a link to the .wav file for trem's water effect?

I have a game "Trophy Hunter 2003" which has a sound for walking and running in water.  I will see if I can get it off the game disc if you want.
