Dying Effects
« on: October 06, 2006, 07:13:55 PM »
I'm wondering, wouldn't it be cool to have some new dying effects? Like rag doll effect, when they get shot, they just collapse in a heap.
And also when you die in midair, you wouldn't just kinda float there.

Rag doll effect?

Think of a different suggestion.

That would take a long time to do, you can either edit the game engine or edit the models but this would take a long time. But i would like to remind you this is paintball not counter strike. You dont die, you get eliminated

What about if when you get hit by a grenade instead of rolling over and dying you get sent across the room and hard into a wall.

It actually wouldn't take that long. Now that the model is skeleton-based, you wouldn't have to change the models much, if at all, and you could pretty easily get some free middleware for physics. I'm pretty sure there's an open-source physics engine, actually.
And in case you haven't noticed, the players DIE when they get hit. As in, fall down on the ground and look dead.

This needs to go into the feature vote for build 18/19.

eiii: Newton would be an example of a free phsics system.

that would be cool. like the headshot video of that kid playing paintball. man that was hilarious.

But i would like to remind you this is paintball not counter strike. You dont die, you get eliminated

true, but some kind of spaztic motion would be funny. i know this isn't high on the priority list but it would be fun in a future build, or maybe as an add on.

Nobody wants to see someone die, you would be more busy worrying about whats comming next...Or whats comming behind unto you =]

a little more detail never hurt a game, just made it more popular and fun to mess aroung=d in, it would be cool if you could make rag doll bodies spawn so you can do random stuff to them, or just make models affected by gravity!!! or the option of making them affected or not
