How do I add bots?
« on: February 25, 2007, 10:50:21 PM »
Ok, first of all I would like to say sorry if this isn't the place to post this, but I looked and couldn't find a "Frequently Asked Questions" or anything like that.
I just downloaded this game and I really like it, but I have dial-up, and only 1 phone line, so I am not able to play all the time I want. I overheard ppl talking in a game about bots. I was wondering how I add a bot to a game, that way I can play offline against npc's.
Second Question: Is their a way to get fullscreen mode?
 Thanks in advance,

You can get the game in fullscreen pretty easily by going to 'Setup' 'Video options', then check fullscreen. Your monitor has to be compatable with that resolution, though.
The bots are for testing purposes right now- they're no fun to play against, really.

But if you want to, the commad at the console to add a bot is 'sv addbot'.

I disagree. My roommates and I love to play us vs. bots. About 20-30 bots usually work, and we jack the elim time up to like 2 minutes. So much fun. Good maps to play this on: Nitefactor, Splat, pbdm1 (insane free-for-all), and most other somewhat linear maps work great.

Haha, well if you do it THAT way...

Nowhere near as fulfilling as playing against actual people, though.

How does that saying go?  Never underestimate the power of stupid bots in large numbers? :)

Be careful when using the sv addbot command.  If you add too many bots, there will be issues.  The docs page might help you out with any further issues as well: http://digitalpaint.planetquake.gamespy.com/docs.html

Message overflow issues, usually.
