I used to live in a small city in China before I moved to the U.S., and the local shops were all Chinese, no English whatsoever. There was only a little bit of English in downtown shopping centers and whatnot. However, most end up being translated to Chinglish.

Well ,Wu Xi literally translates to "No Tin". There's a historical story about war involving tin mining and the use of tin weapons that gave the city its name...but I forgot it.

And also, whenever people ask me where I come from, I always say Shang Hai, that's because no one knows what or where the hell Wu Xi is. Shang Hai is close enough

Btw, do you speak Mandarin with the Shang Hai dialect? My grandparents are from there and they tought me a little bit of the dialect; it's pretty fun
