someone please explain what exactly "pwned" means (as opposed to just "owned"), and also why some people are obsessed with saying it.

supposedly, a respected Quake player kept making a typo and it caught on. or in the last level of warcraft I it said pwned instead of owned. both are rumors. who really knows....

on kind of a side note with the word pwned, ive been hearing a LOT of people like saying it and excrement  around school and its kinda of annoying.  I was also in gamestop the other day and they had and xbox case that said pwned on the side of it... last week i even saw a licence plate  that said pwned.  wtf is going on here dont people have lifes?

Hehe, I saw a license plate that said PWN-1457 (don't remember what the number was), but I'm pretty sure it was just random chance, as all the license plates around here are 3 alphas, 4 digits.  It would be funny to get one that said PWN-1337, though, just to see if anybody noticed it.
