Old skool paintballer stopping by to say "hi"
« on: October 23, 2002, 07:46:23 PM »
Hey Guys!

Wow it's neat to see this website still going strong. Most of you guys probably don't know who I am because I haven't been around for quite a while.  I've been pretty busy with life I guess and don't have much time for gaming anymore.  I do manage some Ghost Recon action once in a while!

Well anyway, take care everyone!

Later,
SmokeYa

Hiyas,

Hows it going Smoke?  Long time definitly.  Glad to hear you are ok.

I have been well, doing good, finally finishing up my Degree and going off to Grad school somewhere in the fall.

Razor, Sage, and most of the RAGE guys are still doing OK.  I talk with Jeff and Seth (Sage=ptw) occasionally.  Bogleg is somewhere where we cannot reach him.

A few of us, Herron, Razor, Mauddib, Sage, Magic, FX, started playing Reaction Quake3 as Team Blizzard for a while again.  Things dwindled after some time and that went bust.  Mostly everyone is living lives away from Quake.

I'd give anything to have a night like it was back in the old days.  Good to hear from you.
-Hump

Maybe it's because you're managing the inventory?

Hey Jit. Yea I'm sorry I disappeared on you.  I guess I was spending to much time on code and gaming and it was taking up too much of my time, so I quit it cold turkey.  My graduate research was starting to suffer.  But it's good to see you still working on the paintball code.

It's good to see you still around too Hump.  Good luck with grad school.

An oldtimers tourny would be kind of cool.  But I guess it would be extremely difficult to find all the real old school paintballers, like all the Splat guys, Fergusan, etc.

I finally finished my Ph.D. earlier in the year. I had left grad school for a while and worked full-time for about a year, but eventually went back to school full-time to finish my Ph.D. I'm currently working as a post-doc at a University.  Right now I'm looking for a full-time engineering job.

Well take care guys. It was cool hearing from you.

Life is but an interruption of gaming.

(parody of a famous quote, in case you guys didn't catch that)

Erk, I wanna get this standalone done so people can just grab one file and go at it.  Unfortunately school's been too crazy.  I had a test, quiz, and project due today, and I have another test and project due Monday.  I suppose that's what I get for taking 7 compsci classes and physics. :P

SmokeYa, it's been a very long time indeed. Glad to hear you are both doing well, and congrats on the academic achievements Hump - maybe, just maybe I'll get there myself someday.

I don't play many games these days either, but I've been getting back into the random DP game again. We're all hoping 2.0 will be released soon :) But it's come quite a long way in the last year. Jitspoe has essentially reworked the code and the game is really stable.

Clans really seem like a fond memory of my childhood... it's just something I wish would happen again, but it never seems to pull through. Well, who knows - and I think a tournament would be a great idea.. Just don't bail on us if you decide to host it, pb2x :)
