Custom crosshair has white background

Ok so i made a crosshair in photoshop and when i save it as a tga or a pcx it comes up with a white background? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Did you make the background with alpha transparency?

Yes, under channels, select the part of the crosshair that you want to be solid, then go to the channels tab (it's next to Layers by default) and click the button at the bottom that says 'save selection as channel'

And it will make your selection white, and the rest black.

Everything in an alpha channel that is white is visible, black is invisible.  50% gray is 50% transparent... understand?


When you save it as a TGA, be sure that you have alpha channels checked and when it asks, select 32 bit textures.

thanks alot yootz!! i finally go my halo 3 assualt rifle crosshair working! looks great with a little laser in the middle!

You need a space between "crosshair" and the number.
