Out of those, I really like Ted Nugent, so I'm biased. However, I guarantee most of you have never heard of Peter Mulvey or this one guy that used to play at my old high school, who played three/four guitars at once, and was the best unsigned artist in America, although I can't remember his name. Peter Mulvey is a folk artist who is quite talented with an acoustic guitar, might want to look up Peter Mulvey Black Rabbit in youtube, it may look easy at times, but it's a great song and takes a lot of talent to play correctly.

SRV was a god amongst guitarists, as was Randy Rhodes.
I've seen about every SRV video there is. I've not seen many that play with the comfort and ease as he did. It looked effortless, almost like it was just a beautiful involuntary function he performed to perfection.

Kirk Hammett & Kerry King...I don't think do. I love Metallica and Slayer (Slayer more so like you can't even imagine), but they are no "gods" of the guitar compared to others named here.

Really though...the problem here is the title of the thread, "BEST GUITARIST EVER."
Each individual will judge this differently, albeit wrong if they don't agree with me (snicker).

In such a broad title as posted I can seriously only point towards the jazz/classical/flamenco side of the guitar. That is where the greatest talent lies. All talent is minuscule compared to the Macedonian talent of these guitarists (SP-e42).

Until you have listened to them all, you can not judge them all. I'm almost willing to bet the person/people posting kUrt k0Ba1n here have never heard of half the real great guitarists that have been posted. And they definitely don't know who John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Paco de Lucia are.

I've heard Paco's music... He's amazing.

Bet nobody's heard of Eric Johnson on here... Shame too. He's amazing as well.

there are still guitarists who create "substance" and still are fast. You can't say there's one best guitarist, because there are so many gernres. Every genre has a own style of play, which is unique. Lots of good guitarist have been mentioned, but it's all about a own matter of taste.
