My Ping sky rocketed!

Ok so i was playing in the [GT] servers and then my ping went from around 240 to 900+. Then i checked other servers and my ping had change badly to those too. The only server that i have a less then 300 ping now is My clans server. Also i have heard other people has had this happen to them. Is there anyway to fix it? My Friend just restarted his computer and it was fine but it doesnt work for me.

Suggestions?

Yer, thats happening 2 me as well on those GT servers.  It happens with other servers a well.  Like rick said, i dont have a bad ping when i play on my server (so obvious) which he stated.  Is it something 2 do that we live in Australia?

Make sure you run scans for viruses and spyware.

Google AVG Free edition and Spybot Search and Destroy.

You really think a virus could b affecting my internet connection?  WOW!  I think its something 2 do with us living in Australia and u living in the US!!!!  Any virus that wanted 2 get 2 my computer would have 2 pass through my router, then windows firewall and then Trend Micro.  Doubt it would get any further without detection.

Same with my computer and also Facepainter had this problem too, Do you think that the 3 of us could get a virus at the same time? Also KiLo my ping had been 240ish which was fine no lag, but now it isnt.

A virus wouldnt also stop u from accessing the internet.  Im guessing no one in the US likes us anymore.  I kinda think the opposite way.  I dont like them anymore because of that.  I would also like someone 2 make a 24 hour australian server so we can access it without lag or super high ping!!!

the geographical distance between you and texas is pretty huge man, if you run a ping from http://looking-glass.optus.net.au/ to Graff's IP 69.93.11.66, you can see it's going to be at least 200 anyway.

Also, I don't really know much about austrailian ISP's but I suppose it could be possible they are shaping traffic and other hijinx. Try pinging graff's IP from your own machine and see if the ping is the same. (Start > Run > type 'CMD' > type 'ping 69.93.11.66').

Ok it was 900+ ping in the game and 789 in the cmd.
Also my ping is working now. Just some times something triggers it and it goes back to 900

Well im not sure....Thats why i said something. But it seems ok now. Also i think it actually might be Facepainters server doing this, because Me, Cam, Face have had the troubles and are usually playing it that server.
