Well, after further research, it appears it's a mouse issue and can happen in any game.

Funny, how come this never happens in any other first-person-shooter that I have?  (I have played through the original versions of Half-Life, HL Blue Shift, HL Opposing force, and other old games like that on my Athlon Xp 3200+ machine.  I have the nForce 2 Ultra 400 chipset on my mobo if that makes any difference.)

How often does it happen?  Do you have to completely restart the game to stop it, or can you just move the mouse around?  What happens if you go into the menu -- can you still use the cursor?  If you run in windows mode, hit ~ to get the windows cursor -- is it doing anything funky?

It just happens.  I can't exactly tell when it will happen, but I will be going along, shooting some people, and then all of the sudden I will look up and then look down and then start spinning around like im doin some kinda funky dance.  rofl

It stops on its own, and I kinda move the mouse up and down and left and right.

yea this always happens to me, but i thought it was my mouse cause one of those pad things on the base is missing. It didnt use to happen, but since i downloaded build 14 it does, although that could just be co-incidental. Its friggin annoying though

Well, this is the thread I started on QuakeSRC about it: http://www.quakesrc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5337

Perhaps try a different mouse and/or mouse pad?  I assume yours is optical, too?
