Title: Newmap: Insight
Post by: aircrew on September 10, 2008, 04:47:29 PM
Ok guys, me and abnormal have made a medium size map called insight. The map is not finished yet, it´s just a beta, but we are not going to change some big things here, but we can fix some bugs or change some textures or add lights, so please help and say what you like and what don´t.Thanks

I hope you can fix all bugs ;)
Maybe i have a bit time the next days to search a few.

Looks good for a small 2on2 map with some jumps. Jitspoe won't like all of them :P

But please delete this horrible tree.

I know it´s not a map with a great graphic and lots of details, but its well playable. And sorry, I can´t delete this tree, because it´s usefull for lots of jumps.Maybe another tree?

Yeah, it would also be ok. Maybe use a model and manage your jumps with some clipbrushes. It is just the point, that all trees made with brushes looks horrible :)

Ok, I can try it. But I can´t put a model from sk89t´s model pack into game, don´t know why. I have this files in my models folder in pball, I create a entites func_model, but in game it´s just a grey "nothing" and error " xxxx.skm not found...Must I final compile it or what is wrong?

 PLEASE do it  (http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=14241.0)

It basically draws the entire map when you're high enough - you could try to fix that somehow.

I would use a different texture for the rails, the blue/red metal looks ugly in my opinion.

And some misaligned textures..
(most of the barrels for example)

Ok, small bugs could be repair later, now I just want to add a model of tree(please help with my problem up) and maybe re-textured map, have you got some ideas for textures?

If you are going to take screen shots of a new map, PLEASE do it a bit of justice and use FOV 90.

I think you should make the rails like you did with the windows inside the tree jump with the metal and the blue/red metal trim

Edit: and also i could jump up from the little ramp with the small barrel up to it next to the side rail and get the flag on blue base. Might be slightly misaligned

This aren´t mine sshots, so I don´t know why you are all typing it here. I just wanna know what do you thing of map, not about sshots. By the way, he just wanted to show me some bugs, so don´t be crazy men. I hate this praters what talk to much about nothing and ignore a topic. Thanks

Looks great :D

- The middle way is a little bit to fast (flag to flag).
- U need the tree model :P
- 2. way to low?
- 2. way to the roof?
- The sky should be higher. I can come with the head on it.
- Chef-Killer or/and jitspoe makes a demo with the most things.

Uploaded @ OTB-Servers.

Sorry, I'm using a SS script, I thought it fixed the fov. Anyway I'll add that to the script.

I don't like the spawn room, it'll make it be easy to spawnkill. I would make many spawn points in different locations.

At first I didn't even notice the metal thing was ice - maybe change the texture?

The lamp should be higher in my opinion. Also, I would apply a metal texture to the top surface.

Screenshots (fov 90):

Thanks for ideas, but this is a small/medium map so its not much good to make a lots of spawns in different places, because some spawns will have a better, faster way to flag...Ok, i will change metal texture...but sorry, i like lighting in LOW...it looks cool i think ;)

Yeah, do whatever you want it's your map.
I personally like maps that have fast and slow spawpoints - the fast ones with a bad weapon or not a weapon at all and the slow ones with a better weapon.
Then you can for example rush with pgp without loading CO2 and surprise them or camp with your autococker :P

Laged, if you do what y00tz said, because I really cbf downloading it right now, make sure you make the images 640x480 when you post them, basically adding them to the image tag.  It pisses me off looking at images like that.

Not bad at all, could be a little larger but is a good 1v1, 2v2 map.

I've uploaded this to the beta server for testing and attached a couple demos.  First is just going around and pointing out things you might want to revise.  Second is some actual game play (may or may not want to watch that one).  Pretty fun map overall.  It just needs a little polish to look better.

I'd like to, but I guess I forgot the .map file :D. I'd like to improve the low-way too a bit. It's too slow and when you're low, it's really easy to cap on you. Ok I'm goin to find that file right now, and I'll see what can be done with this..

Yeah the 'low-way' seems a bit unfair. Anyways thanks. :)

i think that finishing this map would make it more popular too.

Ok, I get this .map file thanks to winbspc.v1.4.kingpin.update - the only helpful tool here..

And I have some questions for you.

Should I let the low way how's it done now and just add ways from low to spawn room (1st screen)

Or should I totally remake low way that they wouldn't cross each other (2nd screen - red colour). That blue colour in 2nd screen is that how it would look like in the 1st possibility.

From low, make a speedjump that goes directly to flag. So people will actually choose that route to cap on people sometimes. I would go low more if it had a speedjump, that actually went to the flag.
But that might mean changing the whole map, which can be a pain.
Title: Re: Newmap: Insight
Post by: fasian on October 29, 2009, 04:53:52 AM
Maybe stay with the original low. Instead of the passageway that lead to a ladder in low, maybe change that whole place to a ramp? Like how it is in Propaint1, don't know if you know what i mean. And make the ramp high enough so that you can speed to above the spawn room.

Edit: I don't really get the idea of your first screenshot, can you go low through spawn room? or is the low just below the spawn room.

Well now, I think I get it.. This map is so overdimensed that I can't ruin it with some more routes.

good map, even though its small its still a good design and layout for this game, keep up the good work.
