Title: An eR33t production.
Post by: James on May 25, 2009, 02:42:40 AM
From joined efforts of BoB, Dirtytaco, and the rest of the eR33t team, we bring you the PBCup version of 2fort5.

Here are several screen shots.

This looks like a TF2 map... only I don't know which one because I don't play it...

Anyway, nice job. The TF2 version looks good and so does this.

EDIT: The map is called 2Fort.

There are alternative routes. Wouldn't judge it before you jump around on it.

What I'm not a fan of is maps where you can go one path and totally miss the enemy. This map will definitely force you to encounter or you'll be giving up points.

Here are some more pictures of the backdoor (which is one way).

Still going through it to finish up some details.

That's already taken care of.

Going to do a closed testing later today to see if it needs any changes then probably release it after that if it doesn't need a recompile.

A beta map could be near the final; beta means not only an empty room.

This is the exact reason I didn't bring it for beta testing. We already spent hours going through it realigning several textures, then I just gave up. Glad you're more concerned with the textures than the actual gameplay. You can spend 5 seconds in any of my maps and find misaligned textures. Come back with some real feedback.

Taking an old, 1 path, ugly map and turning it into something that looks a little better, and plays smoother is no ambition. Oh yeah, they should have just done another airtime remake, again.

Why do you always fail to understand the simplest things. The map was horrible, even robbie could make the remake into a better map. The objective should have been to make a good map not just a better map than some poor map.

Can't wait to see your well developed opinion on how a map should be played. I'm sure someone with as much matching experience and time spent playing this game should leave us awe struck.

Why do you always fail to understand the simplest things. The map was horrible, even robbie could make the remake into a better map. The objective should have been to make a good map not just a better map than some poor map.

What? From what you just said I should of made only a good version instead of a better version? Have you even played it? I'm assuming not.

Basically, all er33t did was take a horrible map, retextured it, added way too many crates, and added a few unnecessary jumps here and there. Yep, that's a quality remake right there.

The original was a terrible map. The pbcup version may be better, but it is still crap to a varying degree of terribadness.

I was going to mention this earlier but I decided to see how it came out.

People have pretty much summed it up, but I'll say it anyway.

2fort5 was a horrible map. 2fort is a horrible map for paintball. The fact that you made it look nicer and give it smoother game play does not make it a good map. I think what we all wanted to see was a new, different, not seen before. We wanted you to CREATE a map as opposed to simply redoing a horrible one. Sure, you made 2fort BETTER, but we want another good map, not 2fort5 again.

We are not doubting your map creating skills, but feel that you could've used them better. When I saw the thread for the first time, I was extremely interested to see what you had made.

Next time, whole new map please, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it more than a remake of a dreadful map.

Map is totaly campable, flow is slow, just not enjoyable as rest of pbcup named maps. Especially not comparable to renoir and pforest. Multi path is nice. But map is so small that the only thing you need to do is to get to the mid and line away. As far it concernes me, this is bad map. And I also know few others to have same opinion but don't wanna say it out loud since they think you will ban them from er33t's servers.

Good thing at NO point is anyone FORCED to play this map  in PBCup. You'll play this map maybe once or twice the whole season.

Each time I play this map the gameplay develops more and improves. s2k can testify for that. Also, I don't see any new maps into the clan scene. Yeah people make maps, but how many actually get played? The last two I can remember are wobluda (which people don't play due to lag) and twiling (which still isn't played much if at all).

I was refering to PBcup named maps, not to er33t cup that's incomming.

I stated my point of view, generally I don't like the map. And people should understand (good mappers) that they won't allways make a map that all of the community likes. It's a separete issue that has nothing to do with their mapping skills.

Funny how everyone who isn't good at this game calls this map horrible. Yet We played uR on it the other night in a 4v4 and they seemed to grasp the concept, although they didn't like it because there wasn't 50 sick jumps that made them go 200 mph.

Too late for Ij...i think it was 50-4ish against er33t on our first time ever playing the map.  Magnet kept getting lost.  Great map, new spawns kept messing me up because I'm used to the original 2fort5 spawns.  Plus whats with the broken down wall that you cant get through to the two high side areas in mid.  Those two spots seem somewhat pointless seeing as how you can't get to the base through them.  Other than that, fun map, good pace.  Looking forward to playing it in PBCup

Seriouly Edge, dont be rude because they dont let you play on euro servers at PBCup09.
What type of maps do you want? Some like Discovery (quite nice map), where do you dont meet your opponents ?
The name of this game is Digital Paint: PAINTBALL 2 , not Who-can-cap-faster-without-seeing-his-enemys....

I really like that map. Teamplay is quite good, and you can dominate that map if you are better than your opponents, like on all pbcup maps. So you got the mainpoint of all your maps on this map too. Thumbs up.

Two totally different issues.

I honestly stopped carring what will happen with er33t cup. If they don't want whole community to compete in fair conditions, we don't have to participate. It's that easy.

I stated my opinion on map, that's it.

Now, did you study psychology or something similar or even talked to me before stating what's MY perspective? Seriously, you expect that every person is going to like this map? Just because you like it?

Also, where's the rudeness in my comment? I stated, and you didn't quoted, that:

I was referring to PBcup named maps, not to er33t cup that's incoming.

I stated my point of view, generally I don't like the map. And people should understand (good mappers) that they won't allways make a map that all of the community likes. It's a separate issue that has nothing to do with their mapping skills.

So Viper, you obviously didn't read whole thread, or information went into your head and was panickly trying to find the brain.

I hope you wont consider this  me being rude as well, rather sarcastic, but who knows. Take it as you like it.

But sorry to say that this map isnt campable. And that map is clearly one of the best map in dp.

The name of this game is Digital Paint: PAINTBALL 2 , not Who-can-cap-faster-without-seeing-his-enemys....

One of the smartest things I've ever read on this forum.

I must agree there. It's easier to sit and wait. And than to call it ˝tactic˝.

Camping/lining/lucking > 1on1, 1on2 where you actually must do something.

Digital Camp: Campball 2.

But, different players, different style.

Lmao, I would love for you to camp and line while playing us on that map.  You will notice quite quickly it won't work out, unless you are more ignorant than you already seem.

At first look I was really really angry that this map was made.  I thought it would play extremely horrible.  I am very happy that I was wrong.  I have now played on the map in a few PUGS and like 3 matches, and it really plays quite well.  There are definitely some strange looking areas, but all in all, the map looks really good. (Especially with hi res textures) Good work er33t.  You successfully ported a TF map to the DP2 style :)

OT Response: I served my ban time :)  I have been unbanned for like 3 weeks now

On Topic: I keep matching on this map and It just keeps getting better.  I have both won and lost on it, and your team really needs to be firing on all cylinders to come out on top.  GOOD WORK :D

If you don't care about how the map looks, you should really give the map to somebody who does, so he can spend a couple hours fixing texture alignment.  It really bugs me that you skipped beta and there texture issues in almost every screenshot you posted (the bridge area, especially).

I think this map better then  2fort5 way better

I like the map, maybe to many crates, but the gameplay is pretty decent. I havent matched on it, but my clan has and I've heard no complaints.

Your opinion really doesn't mean anything to me, and shouldn't to anyone else who actually PLAYS this game. That is all.
