Many threads are full with OT.
Members should be learn to write over a pm with each other by personal problems. (me too^^)
Racism i see in many threads.
Committee Members can´t tell some Members what the rules said.
This forum should be more clear than now.

I agree that there needs to be a greater amount of moderation. Many productive threads are just thrown away, when people decide to flame and go off-topic.

If jitspoe has the time, I would recommend holding some sort of application thread. I would apply.

But seriously, when speaking of handling, a ban hammer is the only correct way to handle large personal attacks. Such content does not belong here. Remember, kids do still play this game and having someone, joking or not directing personal attacks at someone can potentially cause great damage. I just chose to ignore them and move on.
There's being harsh, then there are personal attacks. There is a major difference. Moderators are supposed to enforce rules to prevent such personal attacks from happening. If they do occur, then punishment should be the course of action.
Making fun of someone's illness is completely uncalled for and goes far behond the line of "harsh."

For the record, Jits has enacted forum bans for inappropriate comments before, joking or not, and JMR brings up a good point regarding personal attacks.

There are TON of forums out there run by SJWs that you can frequent. I don't see why we need this be one of them, it has run for a very long time without much issue. The only generation of people that seem to be offended by every little thing said here is the recent one. Just ignore the posts if they bother you.
I do see the need for an active mod, but more for the reason of keeping things on topic, not for being a l3vi/neo/jmr SJW.

This thread was started because of a comment from TiNi when everyone who responded caused spam rather than ignoring 1 line of a post. Thats who deserves a ban. The tournament thread is locked. If you're not in the tournament stop meddling checking the thread, you're not needed there. Post in whats relevant to you.
Claiming it's because of a comment he made you didn't like. So, instead of being mature and ignoring it, you combine for more than triple the posts in the thread that he did. Making you significantly worse to the thread. If you had a problem with the post, grow the intercourse up and report it - or PM him.
Also, no active current player should be a moderator. As Rick stated, Cameron is a good choice. Since I've played there has never been a moderator who is part of the matching scene. The moderator needs to be unbiased, and any current active player would be unable to achieve that. They also have to be someone Jitspoe completely trusts, again Clipz probably the only one fitting that, but his forum actions prove he's certainly not fit for a moderator as he has plenty of negative posts to the point people MSG'd Jitspoe complaining about the favoritism towards him.
Cameron/PvtJimmy and a few others could be good choices. DP forums doesn't need someone on everyday to moderate it, just someone who checks every 1 to 2 weeks.
Moderators shouldn't just instantly ban hammer either, that's not how you handle it efficiently. Contacting the person first with a warning, unless it's very extreme (reference chemicals racist remarks), before any bans are given, is how you moderate.
TL;DR - NOBODY CURRENTLY IN A CLAN/MATCHING IN RECENT HISTORY SHOULD BE A MODERATOR.

I agree, the stuff you went through was worse than harsh comments, and I do think the ban hammer should be used in such situations but the way you reacted to it is the point I was trying to get across. You responded to the trolling/bullying, you ceased your tournament and you quit the game (?). I also assume you would still hold a few grudges against those who caused you pain/stress. I like you, and this is nothing against you, but I don't think you are the right fit for a moderator.

You are wrong. His comment was not correct with the forum rules. If in the registration stay that this is a chaos forum i would not have to register. Rules need to be monitored.

No, DP has 28 active users daily playing the game. You do not need an NA and EU moderator, that makes no sense. Literally I can't comprehend your logic. You're probably just uneducated in this game. This game's forum activity is super meddling slow
I don't need to know every player personally in the game to understand the basis of a human beings interactions. A player actively playing the game wont work, nor have they ever been chosen. Adding to that, Jitspoe has to trust them, which there's very few people that fall under that. Viciouz/Terrorist/Cameron are the 3 that come to mind as most capable candidates to provide efficient and proper moderating.
I am not wrong, Neoterra. The responses were just as wrong, if not more, than the original post (which is the case in most scenarios). ALL the responses broke the rules. You will never have 24/7 moderating in a game with 28 active users daily. You guys responded to his post the same day it was posted, rather than clicking report to moderator, and caused it to grow. His comment can be interpreted in a few ways, but the responses are blatant violation of the agreement. So you put yourself equally at fault for aiding in derailing of a thread.
Please don't talk like you know anything. You've just showcased you do not.
EDIT: This thread is literally completely irrelevant to the public. Nobodies opinions here matter in this topic. This thread should be locked. It was made, and Jitspoe will see it the next time he logs on. If he feels it's fit to get a moderator, he'll take who he see's fit, and it will NOT be based on applications from the community. More posts in here will just turn into some people crying, and others calling them babies. Save the time and trolling, lock the thread, wait for Jitspoe to see it.

Not all players looks in the forum and not all forum members play this game.
I think we need NA and EU moderator because the times are very different. So it could be able to react of some posts. Yeah some days nobody writes here.^^
And i see an enmity between NA and EU. (my opinion) And i try to be constructive and unbiased vs all.
This thread should be not closed. It is discussion if we need a moderator. Not all had the chance to write here and jitspoe should be throw a look on community what they want.
Sure jitspoe should be trust the moderator, but it is not easy to see it over the internet.

Overall, i don't think having a " moderator " could be bad for us, seeing how the topics are going. We definitely need a non-racist mod (I thought this should be clear, but for you guys i repeat it) that does not support na/eu, OR we really need one EU and one SA mod. But 2 mods for 26 players would be a little bit... much.
And: I think these mod(s) should use their banhammer very often. E.G the spam in the tourney-thread should be punished with a ban.
This surely includes both sides (Tini, Toxic, levi, me).

The committee is built with people Jitspoe has known for a while and trusts. We're not opposed to adding someone who we think is right for it. But the more responsibility part is up to Jitspoe.

I think that the bans should only be used as punishment when it becomes more than a joke/troll.
I have had experience in moderation before and am currently moderating my own chat of around 20 users on twitch. I have also had experience in forum moderation with great success. I do not simply care if someone from the outside thinks I am not suitable. It is jitspoe's forum.

If I am fully honest, I'm not sure if these forums have much of a future. Moderation is long overdue.
Guess we'll just have to wait for that mythical person who hasn't touched dp and has no relation to any of us.

The forum activity has always been near equal to the game activity. Moderation has not changed that. People could argue there's not enough moderation in bans (ie took Shock a while to get banned after turning himself in, allowing him to continue hacking for weeks).
Moderation wont actually fix anything in terms of the game. It might make a few people perma-banned on forums. That's it. Sure, it's worth a discussion, but realistically nobody should expect much out of it. At best, Jitspoe elects to choose 1 moderator of someone he's known and trusted for years, who checks forums once a week minimum. (ie as stated before, terrorist, viciouz, cameron, and maybe jimmy).

Is comprehension difficult? We've named people who would fit the bill. A moderator shouldn't be posting in tournament threads, nor should he be matching, etc.etc. This forums previous moderators were just that. There aren't enough active posts on this forum to need someone whos online daily. As mentioned, Cameron/Viciouz/Terrorist are prime candidates as they still check the forum, occasionally post, have done enough in their history to earn the trust of Jitspoe.
THATS what warrants being a moderator. If you go look at forum and game history, the names I mentioned are people who rarely, if ever, joined in on the trash talk or trolling. They never complained about it either. They just do what they do, and don't let ANYTHING bother them. Something all of us are unable to achieve. That's what warrants the position.

Because the Com-Members can't sanction people for that, and because most of them does not care or are inactive, There should be someone moderating the forum. And I am not talking about someone who comes 1 time a week. There is an event / tournament, which is actually making the game more alive than it should be. This is benificial for the game, so having people ruining, and saying what ever they want just because they know no one will react exept jitspoe for the next month.. ( btw this remind me the previous tournament ). So Try it. Do elections, let's see who is eligible or could be a potential candidat and make people vote for it. Of course this is not the most popular game, but atleast.. moderate the forum.

Moderating the game is far more important than moderating the forum, and that's yet to be done. Yet people have complained for years. Why? This isn't a big company earning money, it's Jitspoe's project. People seem to think a position that can be terribly abused will actually go to some election?
Committee members get elected because literally 90% of what they do is contact people regarding multiple accounts. Very occasionally they watch a demo where someone is accused of hacking. That's it. There's 10 (or 9?) of them. It's purely for reducing Jitspoe's workload on the pointless stuff. Nobody can be bad at it unless they leak information, which even then is really no damage done as there's nothing really important there.
Jitspoe isn't active enough to continually check in on his moderator, who can go power hungry on the forum. If something changes it'll be the same process that got Flip in the moderator position. Someone Jitspoe feels fit for the job, and he'll contact them himself and set it up.
This thread is good because it shows Jitspoe that the community would like something done, allowing him to react (since there's 10000 things that need to be done, threads show Jitspoe which are the most important).

The only real trolls that existed in the thread were Knuddle, L3vi and Neroterra. - and Toxiic (sorry buddy).
Again, my original post was relevant to the to the tournament thread. It stated how I was more than happy to be participating with old friends in a game I used to love. It comes down to insecurities and a lack of intelligence within the minds of Knuddle, L3vi and Neoterra whom clearly took large offense to a simple joke. After my respectful posts to these players stating how they were WRONG on all accounts, they continued to persist in harassment and in personal attacks towards myself in forms of childish memes. Which quite frankly, the comedy value of them were pretty terrible, the quotes didn't even match the pictures, which is what offends me the most. If you're trying to be funny do it right. I don't think anyone laughed at those memes other than your child-like mindsets. You annoyed the likes of myself, gonnass, myers, clipz and other respected members such as coLa and so fourth. Your apologies are insincere and are a quick attempt at establishing some empathy towards your actions. I'm sure your antics will continue on this thread while having already name dropped my name twice for no reason.
Last I played this game, I recall Neoterra and L3vi to be prominent spammers in matches, and also blamed everyone better than them (which is everyone) to be hackers. This clearly has been translated into the forums. It is rather tiresome to have a thread created by the problem. Irony at its lowest class. I am very intrigued to how old all of you are, because through your comments you sound: unintelligent, simple-minded and unconventionally problematic/toxic in all fronts.
Any active moderators reading this, please delegate through the toxic players in the community which was partly a reason why I gave up on the game. A game i've been in contact with since 98'.

I believe Myers (or someone else) said this earlier, but this thread has been derailed to far for me to find it, but a position like this goes by a 'Don't ask us, we ask you!' model, so any voting of a sort is pointless, as the final say will always come down to the person who is going to give you control over their forum.

If I were a moderator of a forum, both sides would receive some form of punishment, but you'd receive a more severe one than TiNi. Both sides made racist remarks, but you also spammed continually whereas he made 1 comment. You should have stayed away from the forums a while ago, instead of continuing your pointless spam. How naive of you lmao. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. TiNi, along with his brother MuFF and a few of their friends played and held a competitive-active team for over a decade. This game has no future because new games are significantly better, and most home computers are good enough to run those games. New games update quicker, and are better quality. DP is a small community that is only alive today because of people like TiNi who took the time to learn the game, and continue to play for a full decade or more.
This game has always, and will always, be reliant on people staying around for years to survive. It may get a fair amount of downloads, but people do not stay. As seen by html's post, there's an average of 28 users this month, and 23 last month.
TiNi may be a troll now, as he has put 10+ years into playing this game competitively, but he was a reason this game lasted. New games, people come and go daily, but the base is so large nobody notices. People claim "oh its the community that causes that!!" - That's a naive and incorrect statement. League of Legends is known to be one of the most toxic games ever, with way more severe threats, yet it's the most active. Certain people can't handle trolling/verbal abuse and will leave from it, but the majority of the activity comes from the game itself. Something TiNi put years into.
A side note, Dooci brings on all the trash talk he gets. He rages harder than anyone, and is extremely rude. A lot of the trash talk to JMR came from his arrogance. When he started mapping and was very bad at it (as he admits now) he was very cocky towards it, rejecting feedback, considering himself better than known mappers like Cusoman etc.. which lead to people gaining a dislike towards him. That initial stigma stuck with him. He still is a very arrogant/proud person, which will always cause people to have issues with you. He doesn't do well with criticism. He deserved the arguments that came from his rudeness towards criticism, but he did not deserve anything insulting his physical attributes (unless he made a comment about another persons physical attributes first, as its internet where eye for an eye rule applies).
Lastly - Neo/L3vi, you guys continually responding to the trolls show you're just as at fault. And you're derailing your own thread. You think Jitspoe will actually read through this garbage now to really view community opinions?

I play this game since 7 years. I had many friends here and many good times. But some of them going with Levis statement.
In the first years i matched only 1 time in a month. Sure it was hard. Some guys tried to reach the lvl and saw the arrogance and "bigotry"? and the trolls from players they think they are the best in every sense.
Yeah they are really good players, but thats all. Than the new players left the game. Not because they can`t handle this. They don`t want.
Ok that is not the only reason... but it is one.

The games not dying because you think some people are mean. First off, most new players don't make forum accounts (The forum account making process was messed up for over a year recently with the "what is the meaning of life" question in order to make an account, THATS why no new players ended up able to even post on forums, not because people were rude to them).
People ripping into Dooci and co's threads is because ALL THOSE THREADS ARE = "THIS AND THIS AND THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED FOR DP TO BE BETTER" -- Guess what? Those fixes aren't coming. You can make 100 threads stating them all, it's been said and done. Jitspoe doesn't have the time to make a major change even once a year. It takes this game about 3 years to see a major change. Look at how long you've played, what has changed other than maps? And maps aren't done by the developer. Jitspoe lacks the time. THATS why the games dying.
The community as a whole literally has such a minimal impact on the success of a game. The game itself will draw players in, and players will stay for the game and its activity. When I pub, I never see anyone being negative. In fact, since I've been an active player (likely longer than both of you) I've noticed the majority of any extreme insults comes from competitive scene to other competitive scene members, or whether in game or on IRC. NOT on the Forums or public servers. Therefore, where are the new players getting this idea?
TO SUMMARIZE SIMPLY:
1) New players leave because in the current day other games just out class DP in all aspects, and DP takes 3ish year gaps between substantial updates
2) DP relies on players to stick around years to even be active. If you remove anyone who has played 5+ years from DP from the game, the game dies right now. It is illogical to assume that fact means the community is at fault.
3) The community is the only reason this game has a present. The nostalgia of how the game was is what keeps the older players around, hoping it gets to that stage. But this game only is alive because of the community itself. I would argue that the community keeps/brings back more people than it makes leave. (Ie people bring their friends/old teammates back, more than they make people quit). I know I've brought more people back than I've made quit for certain.
4) Moderator on forums is irrelevant to future of the game, but it is relevant to the forum being a place people can post without fear of harassment. I agree one is needed, and mentioned my assumed criteria in a previous post.
5) Stop blaming the community. You've taken TiNi's comment so far that you became the bigger problem. Do you think your actions are killing the game? It may have annoyed people, but certainly didn't kill the game. That's all trash talk typically does, it rarely causes people to truly leave. (Trash talking isn't a DP problem, it's an internet problem - its unfixable, the only reason its under a microscope in DP is because if 1 person leaves that is a big hit to the activity as this game depends on every single current player just to have any servers filled).
6) As stated previously, you were the bigger problem in this situation. Don't blame TiNi for you leaving. TiNi's original comment did not make you leave, future comments caused you to. If you were mature and ignored his first comment, there would be no future comments, and you would not have quit. Like many others who "quit due to community members", they don't realize they were part of the problem. They provoked or aided in causing the problems to occur, as you did in this case. You caused yourself to leave by not being mature in the first place.
I tried to make it simple as it's clear English is not your native language. Please do not respond back in an argumentative manner.

On a general note with moderation complaints, each post has a "Report to moderator" link at the bottom. Almost nobody uses it. I think only 1 or 2 posts were reported in that whole mess. If somebody says something says something inappropriate or off topic, don't reply and point that out to them, as it will likely just result in a large chain of off-topic replies. Instead, simply report the post and move on. If things have gotten really out of hand, PM me on IRC. That way, I can deal with it immediately, if I'm at my computer.

I don't think its for a lack of noticing the link. A lot of those people were using the Quote link which is right next to Report to moderator of the next post above it. That's actually how I first found it.
I think some people even forget that the more replies means that much more work for the moderator to have to do when they are available. Everyone feels like they need to get another statement in. Shame on them!
