I'm sure this has been asked for numerous times, but could you please put observer blackout on all of your match servers. Simply to end the bickering and hassle..
Thanks.
-
I PM'ed loial about it maybe 2 weeks ago, either they don't care cause they don't match, or they don't actually realize it's off
-
Yeah dude please.
-
^^^agreed.
-
Yes please enforce the blackout rule.
-
all of CC needs to say the same thing ;P
-
Wow, some of you people really crack me up!... Loial doesn't have the access to change those settings and it surprises me that as long as many of you have been on the forums you haven't figured out who to come to to get things done... Second, it was several months back that a bunch of people complained about that setting being ON.
I have no problem turning it back on again if that is the desire of the majority.
Too DirtyTaco and Magalhaes... PLEASE STOP!
-
I believe the majority of people would like blackout on more than ever now, considering there aren't any ch1ll servers available..
-
No problem baid...
I'll turn it back on on all the match servers except Classic 1 that way those who don't like it will have a server to go to..
-
please turn it on for all of them except the guntemp ones, that would serve our purpose much better
-
who enjoys guntemp anyway, only use one server with guntemp (if you have to) :p
-
Picasso, plz put black out on all gt match server. I just dont want to feel cheated and i just want a fair and fun match.
-
Okay... good lord...
I've set 3 of our 4 match servers so that observerblackout is ON. As I stated before I am leaving one open for those of you who might NOT like it ON so PLEASE, Don't get greedy...
As far as gun temp is concerned, The 2 Classic servers are set up WITHOUT IT and Match 1 & 2 are setup WITH IT.
Be HAPPY, Don't Worry!
P.S. FTR I hate guntemp and noobserverblackout ON but I'm humble and I'll give you what you want.
-
why can't all the servers be set without gun temp and set a good cap setting like the classics are?
-

Why can't you be happy that 3 of the 4 match servers are set as you requested?? The one that is left is set for those who do NOT like things as you do... AGAIN DON"T BE GREEDY! Oh and a "THANK YOU" would suffice?
-
still pointless ;P noone likes those servers and we all dread having to rent it out when it's the last one left
-
you always have a choice.....
-
Instead of observer blackout you could put force team chase cam on. I think that would server pretty much the same purpose as the obs blackout.
-

Rent it out??? Kid, are you on crack??!! I've yet to receive payment from you as far as "RENT" is concerned so STOP trying to show your A$$.
If "noone likes" the servers then take your crybaby a$$es elsewhere. And Spook while I'm at it, shove it where your OPIE lookin ass don't shine. Not sure who you were trying to impress but you're really an immature jerk!
-
wow calm down, i just wanted to know why you would leave obs blackout off on one of the servers we LIKE to use for matches instead of the crappy guntemp ones. I think i have a right to know why that was the choice.
-

?? Is it that complicated ?? I've explained everything I've done all the way through Spook, and in easy to understand detail, then you come back with the crap you did??...
Reread the thread and if you don't understand that then get an education...
Calm down??
I adjusted 3 of 4 servers to your liking and you complain about the ONE I leave for those who don't like what you like??
Get a clue kid!! As you can see I'm in no mood for such selfishness!
-

People don't like team chase cam, because they still want to recon the other team while they're dead. They do like observer blackout because observers can't recon the other team on voice chat programs.

I first heard the term 'rent a server' from the Europeans. It's interchangeable with reserve, acquire, use, etc. It's kinda weird because every definition (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rent) of rent involves payment.
-
Regardless, The servers cost NOONE except those who are paying and we're NOT "RENTING" so the point is mute.... I hope that made sense...
-
..I think i have a right to know why that was the choice
Well, the truth of the matter is you only have 3 choices:
1. Play on the GT servers.
2. Don't play on the GT servers.
3. Go get your own servers.
-
We know what rent means Bain, remember thats the "English" language you're using. But yeah, rent is a weird choice of word to use :/
PiCasSSo, just to clear up, i think most people like the classic settings + blackout on. Thats no guntemp, obs blackout, no flag cap ends round and no only cap when flag is at base.
Not sure who likes the match settings, im pretty sure most people only use them cos they NEED a server and there are no classics left.
-
haha :)
I bet the word "rent" came into use by a link on my website which was labeled "rent it" and pointed to the server registration page :D that link is long gone, but still funny that anyone would even pick on the use of that word: of course nobody pays for the use of your servers, Picasso, but you know what he meant to say, don't you? Also, "acquire" and "use" would be inappropriate as well, as it basically is a reservation for a certain period of time which can only be overwritten by admins with rcon access

Precisely why I created 2 "Classic" Match servers which have all the old school settings and 2 regular Match servers that have the newer settings like guntemp, flagcapendsround and flagmustbeatbase.
The idea is to give clans a choice of how they want to play by offering variety. If you don't like guntemp, flagcapendsround and flagmustbeatbase then use the "CLASSIC" Match servers.
If you prefer guntemp, flagcapendsround and flagmustbeatbase then Match 1 & 2 should be your choice.
And NOW ALL the servers have the noobserverblackout setting turned ON except "CLASSIC Match 1"
-
i know picasso, your argument wasn't with me :/
All i'm saying is i don't no anyone who likes the match settings, and only use those as a last resort when all classic servers are taken.
ugh im all confused, so are you saying that in all but one server you cant obs? if so then please make that one server a match server, not a classic.

+1 for lekky & DT
Picasso, wouldn't it be a possible compromise to change one of the servers with new settings to a server with classic settings? I seriously doubt that anyone ever plays on the non-classic servers when a classic server is available :)
-
We used to have a No-1v1 disclaimer in the !match trigger and in the topic of #eR33t-Servers. Whenever we caught people 1v1ing in the servers we just banned them from using the trigger. It worked out rather well.
After re-reading my post I thought about a great idea. What would be really cool would be a dropdown to select different configuration options when requesting a server on the website. This could be as simple as Classic vs. Current configuration or as dynamic as specifying different options for flagmustbeathome, flagcapendsround, observerblackout, guntemp, etc.
-
you mean, like a script that is executed upon getting login/pw (from the GT website), which then alters the current server settings? good idea :)
-
Thanks for all the input. I am inclined to agree with all of you as far as the match servers are concerned.
I won't have any time until this weekend but I'll talk with Snipen about it and see if he'll let me make only ONE server with all the newer settings and then I'll make the other 3 with classic settings? I'll also see about adding on more classic server so that we have 4 classic style servers. Then I'll set 2 of those with noobserverblackout ON and 2 with it OFF. The one newr settings server will also have it ON.
I love Bain's idea as well but would definately need help implementing such an idea.
I hope that works for everyone and as always I am open for suggestions.
-
I suggest that all match servers should have observerblackout on, especially the classic servers. I don't understand why anyone would want a match server with observer blackout off, but thats just me..Then again they're your servers :D
-
Casso, how come you flipped out on me when i said basically the same thing as everyone else? have a bad day or something?
-
I think it was the Jimmy BB talking :)
-

Your approach struck a nerve Spook...
SHHhhhhh Blondie!! Jimmy BB was not supposed to be visiting last night!
-
The reason he 'flipped out' is because Olbaid, the original poster, was kind of enough to make a cordial 'plea' (see post title) as opposed to just a rant/beg...
All in all, who cares?
+1 for both of you for being so entertaining.
-
Casso, if you wanna make mostly everyone happy then just make all classic match servers with obsblackout on and guntemp off. That would be great. Thanks.
btw +1 for yo yootz.
-
I like bain's idea. A nice little page with check boxes or edit boxes for all the common options would be a good idea: ffire, flagcapendsround, flagmustbeatbase, chasecamonly, obsereverblackout, elim, guntemp_inc, etc. Since the script is already setting the password, it would be easy to set the rest of the stuff as well. Then you could just have 3 or 4 generic match servers and people could use whatever settings they wanted.
-
edit boxes
<3 rcon injection vulnerabilities
-
or default to the settings everyone wants, and have options to change the others, eg to turn on guntemp, and turn off observer blackout :P
-
If someone can write the script I'll try to add it into the page. All help would be greatly appreciated.
-
This may be a stupid idea but it might work.
When I get a GT Server now I am able to change map but if it were set so you can do cvar commands then that would solve a lot of the problems mentioned in this thread. However it would be a problem if the 2 clans (or people) disagreed
I don't know if you want to give people that much power or not though Casso.
Edit: With the webpage interface that is already setup it would be rather easy to do this.
-
A webpage interface would probably be the easiest from a user standpoint, but having a login level based list of settings that could be changed could be a useful feature. To the feature vote thread!
-
having a login level based list of settings that could be changed could be a useful feature.
I'm not exactly sure I follow how that would work.
-
Currently there is a list of commands and login levels needed to execute those commands. Cvar_set is one of the highest level commands, usually, as it is the most powerful. However, that command was broken down into settings that could be changed by different login levels, it could be a lot more useful. Then people with low-level logins (such as those using the server for matches) could change some of the basic settings, but not be able to change other settings.
-
So you mean writing some of the cvar commands into the commands.txt file actually.
-
That would be a great addition to the "borrowing" site, but from the looks of it the settings that are on the classics will be the settings everyone will pick when they borrow the servers
-
So you mean writing some of the cvar commands into the commands.txt file actually.
Good lord kid!! If you're going to post to a thread, at least know wtf you're posting about!! STOP replying just to up your post count... It's blatenly obvious that is what you are doing!
The commands.txt file only lists some of the available commands and gives them an adminstrative op level which administration can of course change to their own preferences

Sorry for ticking you off.
I was just trying to get the point of what Jitspoe was saying.

I'm not "Ticked off" in the least but I clarified the facts for you regardless

as for a script to set several settings before matchstart:
I have implemented something in my server registration page, where you can enable/disable grenades. This is not written into a config-file which is then executed, but directly sent to the server as an rcon-command (by a UPD-packet). So if you want to have several options being selectable, this way it would send several rcon-commands to the server. Maybe a better idea would be to collect the data and store it in a config-file, then execute that file on the server directly.
