Title: Continuation of Server User Limit
Post by: Y2J on July 11, 2007, 12:02:02 PM
For whatever reason the previous one got locked, as it was exposed GT members like to abuse their power at times.
It's a common problem, whatever, I've seen numerous people fallen victim to it. (ps, take blitz out of the rotation if you have intercourse a meddling problem with it)

I'm looking at the bigger issue here. People are hopping on the full servers, because why play shazam33 with 0 people and wait, when there is a game already going? There is no variety in the maps on any of the servers, and people don't go wait because there are more spots available, even if it sucks.

I remember back in the day when a server was full, at 12 or 16, I would have no problem going to another server and waiting, because I know others that would be trying to get into that server would see me join, and also end up joining and starting a game.

This day and age though, with 32 limits, and the same map on each one, no one is going to go into a game with 1 person, as opposed to 30. They don't know what it's like to have a decent user limit. But I'm sure they would realize how much better this game actually is (ex; actually getting supplies on shazam22) with lower team levels.

And don't try and accuse me of not knowing what I'm doing again, I admined CAP servers before you ever played this game probably, and was an admin on eR33t servers.

The other thread was locked because it degraded into flaming.  Let's keep this one civil.  Personal insults get things nowhere.

Rightio, GT servers need to be reduced, and EV1 if they haven't already (I believe Jits said he was going to do this). Apart from that the majority of the rest are now at 16? OTB speed server can stay at 32 for all its worth :)

9 of 15 servers with players on them running at my last check are servers that are set to 32 players.  The fullest servers are the ones with a 32 player setting.  I've watched this bickering match in 3 different threads and it seems to me that a minority few on this forum are the only ones who seem to have a problem with the player max's.  Yeah the "FORUM" vote shows that several agree the player count should be reduced but HEY!!...  A few of you are B I T C H I N G while those servers are full of people who are enjoying the servers as they are.

GT servers are fine just as they are.  We've had them up for what, 4 years now?? YOUR WELCOME!!!!!!

We've tried several different ideas based off of forum votes and every single one of them has FAILED.

As mentioned by Snipen, the servers are the most populated and long lasting servers to date.  eR33t, kudos to ya but how long were your servers up and running??

I'll make it as simple as this before I get pissed off and say something to get myself banned off of the forums....

If you people don't like what other people are paying their own hard earned dollar for in an effort to provide those in the community who might appreciate our concerted efforts to bring said community with game servers for their enjoyment and entertainment, then shut the hell up and go pay for your own.

Simplified, if you don't like it , go elsewhere...

God this thread pisses me off.  How freakin educated does a person have to be to figure out that if they don't like the player count or ANYTHING about a server, their are others they can go to.  P U T H E T I C K!!

I just love sitting in empty servers.

I think it'd be good if pub servers were more like match servers, i.e, lower player count. You will never see a 16v16 match, ever. You'll never see a match server with a respawn time of 5 seconds. The only way we're going to be able to revive the matching scene is by making the conditions in pubs closer to match conditions. Otherwise, it'll be impossible for average players to go from just screwing around in a pub with tons of people to actually being a key member of a team.

eiii u have a point about making the servers to more like match settings but i  dont think any server admin wants to hear a bunch on noob complaining about the respawn time i remember the last time i was in a gt some noobie came in played one round then asked if there was a server admin to change respawn time i think the reason why the newbs like the lo respawn time is becuz they get more time to play sense there always getting killed and dieing then complain about ppl hacking cuz their simply strafing and hitting jumps i swear the other day a noob cam into irc and asked how do ppl jump so high and far and move so fast and me and superman told him then he reply ok thx im gonna go try that now and be4 he left he goes o yea i thought all of u guys were hacking only if there was a way where we could tell them/explain y its 60 min respawn time and why we jump so far and high

I kinda was only able to read half of that before my brain shut down from lack of periods.

Sure, they get more time to play, but less time to play well. If you know that neither your life nor the enemies' matters, you'll play entirely differently. The pubs are just not somewhere you can go to learn matching skills, and that's the reason the clan scene is dead in my opinion.
For the 'noobs complaining', they're noobs. They come and go, and some stick around. If we change the server settings, the next batch will get used to that and be able to integrate into the match scene much more easily. I think it's worth alienating some people to resurrect clan matching.

3 days ago i recieved a pm on irc: "your servers have 60 seconds respawn times, taht sucks ;D"

I respondend that this would be the standart setting, and he responded something like:"oh really? didnt knew :D :D, 5 seconds are kewler :)".

Just wanted to prove eiii's point(s).
Title: Re: Continuation of Server User Limit

It's not just the forum majority Picasso. Everyone that is in any decent clan would want the change, whether they post on here or not. I'm fairly sure I'm the only one from my clan that posted, and I know the rest feel the same way. There are lots of people out there who would like it lowered, and probably lots of people who have never experienced it with just 16, and will like it ten times better once they do.

The servers can still be the most populated with 16 player counts and good map rotation, because each one will be full, and everyone will be getting supplies.
Title: Re: Continuation of Server User Limit
Post by: PiCaSSo on July 14, 2007, 12:08:52 AM
We have 5!!!! Count them... 5 MATCH servers available for "anyone in a decent clan" and those who are not.

Please don't forget that a large amount of players choose NOT to be in clans and enjoy the present PUB play.  We have 4 Pub servers and I'll say again, they are populated quiet well with the present settings and I hear NO complaints from anyone but a minority few from this forum along with a few cheap pot shots and personal attacks against GT and the server admins which of course nullifies said requests.

As mentioned before, the servers were NOT near as populated with low max players settings as they are with the present settings.

I also mentioned last evening that the servers that have their settings at 32 are loaded with people and the ones with 16 have very few people on them.  It's the same again tonight!!  EV1 and GT servers are loaded and all the rest hardly have anyone on them.

Do the math...

We of the GT persuasion have come to the conclusion that if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

We accommodate the huge majority of the DP community which is clearly satisfied with the servers as they are but we can not accommodate EVERYONE.

Sorry we could not meet your personal needs
Title: Re: Continuation of Server User Limit
Post by: Eiii on July 14, 2007, 12:55:20 AM
It is broke. I'm just going to restate what I said in my last post, for you sake.

The current setup of servers DOES NOT help new players integrate into the clan scene. If they're not used to being a key part of a team, they'll never learn to communicate or... play intelligently.

You don't hear any complaints because new players don't know anything else. They've only played on huge teams on huge servers. And actually, the only opinion I've heard on the forums against lower the player count is yours.

So long as the huge servers exist, people who don't know any better will flock to them. To get this to work, we need to reduce the count on all the servers. We need to force this restriction on current players, and introduce it to new ones for the good of the community.

I think you can handle having a few less players on your server for the sake of reviving the clan scene. So long as we just have a ton of players bouncing around on pubs without thinking, this game won't be going anywhere.

Are you an idiot picasso? the 16 person european servers aren't populated cause no germans were awake.. wow...

and how are the minority of people for change.. the vast majority is, hense why all the other servers went 16 , and jits wants to make a way to have autochanging of server limits.

HEY GUESS WHAT - THE 16 USER LIMIT SERVERS ARE MORE FULL AT THIS HOUR! (MAN, THIS MUST BE PROOF THAT 16 USERS IS THE WAY TO GO)

(IT HAS NOTHING TO DO THAT IT IS 1AM-4AM IN THE USA, AND 10AM IN GERMANY, NOTHING AT ALL)

No, he's really not. He's being a bit aggressive, but Picasso is being a bit stubborn. It just looks like you care more about there being as many people as possible on your server than trying to help the community and this game as a whole.
Title: Re: Continuation of Server User Limit

Random rant...

Lol No.

I care more people being exposed to this game, not 'my' server or 'GT' per say.

The mappers either have not caught up to the 'craze' of larger hosted servers or the matching community in general has a disfunctional dislike for more random killing by proxy of more people playing. Either way chill the intercourse out and take care of the matching community and build up strong ties that are conducive to a matching community.

Were is your backlash for Jitspoe hosting 32 port servers?

He's said he'll change it. I wish he would sooner, but he will.

It's really dumb to say 'MAPPERS HAVEN'T CAUGHT UP WITH THE TIMES' when you practically brought in the new times. There are hardly any maps being made at all right now. How about, you tailor the servers to the maps instead of vice versa?

WOW

What a fabrication. Don't just make up stuff. Here are two SS of the servers tonight 1:30 and 3:50 am .

I have a feeling  jits will be closing this one for flaming also, and the author should have been tbanned from the start as he can't  express his opinion with out attacking others.

But beyond that reread my other post my position still stands . This is my last post on the subject.

Had to add another SS I just took. (4:48 AM)

Not some dumb if I count quantity of players. New player retention is my main concern. Morons

You can help sort quality of players if you think harder and actually do ground work. I tried that in earlier posts if you would read.

I understand your exposure perspective, but you're exposing people to the insane thoughtless side of the game, as opposed to the more tactical smaller match. People who love the chaos aren't the kind of players we want, frankly. They'll do nothing for this community, and they certainly won't join any serious clans. :-\
Title: Re: Continuation of Server User Limit

I understand this.

It is a why I begged for the community to harness this power. Figure out a way.

The more people playing no matter the arena the better.

Follow AAO's gaming 'model'. Simple put its solid.

I can contribute money and a small bit of player etiquette and battle expertise. The rest is up to you.

Jitspoe this aught to make you smile. Everyone had fun.

*edit why are we confusing public play with match? There will be a difference.

Oh and that complaint you have is a flaw in the game. Every map should auto spawn weapons, or at least have the ablility to. Btw you did good without those supplies huh? rofl

Eii has a point no newbs are getting integrated to matches becausethis is how they think.....
newbie1: This is really dumb there is no more then 8 people in this match.
newbie2:Yeah lets go to one of those super full servers like one of those graffitti servers that have 25 or 28 people in them.
newbie3:woooooohoooooooo lets go guys......
this is why I am making a daily pickup game one for NAs the other for Europeans so they'll think like this:
newbie1:Hey guys look at that pickup server it has 16 max but all the cool people go there maybe I'll go there too.
newbie2:yeah that sounds fun I like being like the cool people comon
newbie3:wooohoooo lets go play with cool people in the 16 person server
Then next time they here about clans matching with less than 20+ people they'll be like....
newbie1: hey that clan has matches alot like the pickup games where all the cool people go
newbie2:yeah it must be cool too lets go there instead of playing pub
newbie3:wooohooooo now we're gonna play with lotses of cool people in a clan yay!
All I think you should do since I see your point is lower your servers some maybe just like 22 or 20 that way it isn't so insane as having 32 which is 3 times the amount of a match with a bit more people then normal (10[5v5]) to just 2 times as many.

Eiii if you're so worried about reviving the pathetic state of the almighty DP clan scene then you guys start and pay for your own servers and see how well you do.  In the meantime, we're satisfied with the populous of our servers

We're sure in the hell NOT going to succumb to the desires of fools like Y2J who rant, name call, badger or attack us.

This subject has been carried on long enough.  If you don't like our user limits, go elsewhere.

I would appreciate Knack or Y00tz closing this thread and cautioning Y2J's behavior.

Thanks in advance...

Again, this looks to me like you guys would rather continue to look big by having the big servers than actually help the community. Don't get me wrong, you're servers are some of the best, and they're a great service. While they do provide lots of players a place to play, I believe, as I've said, that they're destroying the more important bits of the community. Just a few servers with the high limit will make this behavior continue, and right now you are (most of) those servers.

If you don't want to change anything on your end, we can't make you. I wish we could make you help out the community when it's in need, though. It's kind of your duty as a server owner/manager.

It's also dumb to ask for this topic to be locked. Just because you won't change anything doesn't mean more people have more opinions. And all Y2J's done is be aggressive and call you stupid. The first is warranted because you're being fairly stubborn, and the second is tolerated because we all left grade school a long time ago.

Picasso if you would only read my posts as well as most of the others you would see the majority of the time we are not badgering or flaming you all we are saying is that it would be nicer if you lowered your server limits to 16 heck I'm not even asking for 16 I'm asking for only 20-22. So please I know Y2J has been badgering you some but why does that mean you have to completely shut out the rest of us who are making quite reasonable opinions and are not badgering you in the least?

I'd like to add my views :)

I can understand where the GT admins are coming from, their servers are some of the most populated in this game, and have been for quite a while. Why should they change anything when so many people play on their servers?

Well you could say that the GT servers are more populated because they hold more people! Also the other servers may have less people in because the 32 player servers take all the players on at one time. You may counter this argument by saying that the reason they are all in 32 player server is because people enjoy crowed servers, however, I put it to you that the majority of these players are new to the game and thus don't know any better.

It is alot more enjoyable to play in a 16 limit server than in a 32 limit server. I'm sure the newer players would feel this way to if tehy were given the chance. I think there still should be some servers with a 32 player limit, just to give people the option and a greater deal of choice, but I really believe that they should be the minority, a novel server where we can go and let our hair down, line and get loads of kills, but only once in a while.

As much as anyone I appreciate the GT servers and admins, this is a request not a demand. But i'm sure it would be a good move for the game.

thats why i said keep some servers with a high limit, but make them the novel minority :P They are fun, but it makes for a much better constant overall gaming experience to play in a max 16 player server.

Eiii, your whole post is idiotic and a complete insult.  We don't have to "look big" because we already are.  We have the longest lasting most stable running servers to date.  The mere fact that we have made them available to the community "helps the community" because without them you might have to dig into that fat pocket of yours instead of offering NOTHING to this community yourself other than your baseless magpie running at the mouth type posts.

Now you want to blame the GT servers for the crappy state of the DP clan scene because of our player limit setting?  Dude your utterly annoying  and have no idea what you're talking about.

There are a ton of 16 limit servers up and ALL but one of them have people on them at this time.  It doesn't matter what time I look, the 32 player servers always have people on them and the 16 player servers seldom do.  Irregardless of that we've already explained our position to the hilt and with a lot more respect than we're getting from a few of you here.

Seriously though, we offer around 1,200.00 a year to the "DP community", What in the hell do/have you offered?

I suppose since EV1 servers are still set to 32 players with the exception of one that it is jitspoe's intention to be "stubborn" and demean the state of the "clan scene"  I THINK NOT!!!

We hear the desires of the few of you on here but are more likely to consider them from people who use a little simple common respect.

lekky, Although I don't think that our player count setting has anything to do with the sad pathetic state of the almighty DP clan scene(Those problems are plentiful and lie elsewhere), I'll talk to Snipen or he'll see this post and TRY running 2 of our 4 PUB servers at 16 and I suppose change the match servers to 16 as I've never seen a match requiring anything higher.

Personally, I'm content with the servers just as they are and am thankful that they are there for me to enjoy.  I'm a firm believer in the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The final decision lies with Snipen and if he tries it and the servers sit empty as they did in the past, they'll be raised up again.  In final, the existing clans are the ones that need to HELP change the state of the"DP clan scene" and a great many can start with working on their attitudes and using the great many servers that are already available to them instead of trying to blame the problem on the GT server max player setting. That's just plain stupid!

Have a great day.

Yes thats right Kilo.

Picasso im sure no one is trying to blame you guys for anything, if they are then they are wrong. For example the solution to getting more stable clans in this game rests upon many many factors, server limit of pub servers might be one, but i'm sure that there are much larger factors to consider before any change to the max user limit has any effect on getting more stable clans.

Match servers can stay as they are, or however you like them. The max user limit of those has no effect on anything we are discussing here.

Picasso I'd love it if you would be able to set all your pub servers to a max limit of 16 for say a week, just so we can gauge the effect of it and see what happens. Setting 2 to 16 wont tell us that much as the 32 limit ones will just stay crowded. Hoep you can get snipen to read this and hope he understands my point of view. If it turns out that all the GT servers are empty (i cant see how as then all servers will be 16 nearly, and people must play somewhere!) then they can be set back to 32.
Title: Re: Continuation of Server User Limit
Post by: Apocalypse on July 18, 2007, 11:32:03 AM
Also if they do seem kind of empty you should try something in between 16 and 32 like 20 something see if that works of course I know this is all your desiscion.

You can't say that because I don't have the means to contribute as much as you do my opinions are invalid. That's incredibly dumb. Your servers are a great contribution to the players, but right now they're doing nothing positive for organized play, which is what is holding this game back.

We hear the desires of the few of you on here but are more likely to consider them from people who use a little simple common respect.
Right now you're the least respectful poster in this thread, by far. I've done nothing but call you stubborn, which you continue to prove that you are.

In final, the existing clans are the ones that need to HELP change the state of the"DP clan scene" and a great many can start with working on their attitudes and using the great many servers that are already available to them instead of trying to blame the problem on the GT server max player setting. I'm not saying that it's only your fault. One look at the clan scene and you can see that a lot of the problem is on their end. But, after so long of the clan scene being nearly completely dead, nothing's changed. I don't think we can count on them for much, as Jigsaw demonstrated. However, it'll be hard for any new serious players to be brought in if they're not exposed to serious play. While you're not entirely responsible, you are hurting the clan scene right now, and you can very easily make it better.

I have been playing Paintball since Quake1. Quake Innovations paintball. Wayyyy back in the day. And in my opinion, the way this topic is going. Nothing is going to happen out of this. It's just a waste of time. Now I'm going to try to be unbiased here. But I know a few very important people that were a HUGE part of this community. Now I'm not mentioning any names at all here, I know who they are, I have heard their thoughts, and they just don't care about DP anymore for various reasons. Alongside with me, these people feel exactly the same way. l won't join a 32 player server unless only about 12-16 are on them.

What GT's point is, is that their servers are usually always played on and their 32 player servers are used most frequently. They see no need to change this because people play on them. So in retrospect they are providing a service to the community.

Everyone against the 32player limit also have valid points. Most maps are not designed for a 32 player limit. Maps are not equipped for enough items for 32 players to fully enjoy. This is just logic. Considering, there are a select few maps that could actually be playable with this many people... (brainstorm ect...).. 32 players on blitz is ridiculous. It's ridiculous even to think 16 people on blitz is ok. We had this problem with pbcup/blitz when most servers were only 16 players max. 32 player servers should be only running maps that support.. well 32 players. Other wise half of the people are running around using PGP and just end up dying anyways. Shazam, blitz, pbcup and 95% of the other maps run on these servers is just not plausible. Most people who play on these servers now (i have been to them quite frequently lately, are new.) I don't recognize 3/4 of the people who play on them. I'm pretty sure jits only added the 32 player support for maps that would support 32 players.

Now, new maps are being made.. not very frequently but they are. I have yet to see a single map designed... yes.. DESIGNED for 32 players. Except brainstorm. I don't even know if brainstorm is well equipped for 32 players. The fact of the matter is, there isnt many maps that actually support 32 players... and everyone starting out with autocockers, or other weapons is NOT designed for 32 players. I have been many things over the years, i have mapped, i have been a server admin, i have contributed directly to the paintball 2 game (me & 4thX implemented the loc support, and fixed the bugs), I have been in clans. I have been freelance. And I have been around since Quake1. And I'm telling you.. people like me don't want to play on servers with 32 player's when the map is NOT designed for it.

Many logical points for this;
- Not enough supplies to go around comfortably.
- Starting out with full equipment isn't very skill full. Also, takes strategy and intensity from most maps.
- Not enough space for people to play and move comfortably.
- Takes confrontation out of the map.
- Takes skill, out of the map. (Spraying into a crowded area isn't very skillfull. Also, note tossing grenades into a heavily populated area.)
- Most importantly, it eliminated the team effect that paintball has had. Let me explain this.
When DP first emerged way back. There was I think a 12 player limit or so. 6 per team, 12 per map. When there is 6-8 people on a team, they actually have to WORK together in order to succeed. Play off each other, watch what other people are doing, and be aware whats going on. Not just running somewhere and shooting into a cloud of the opposite color. The strategy of the map's that most maps were designed for is eliminated. And it just becomes shoot across the map, hope for the best.

The bottom line is, if it's not designed for it. It shouldn't be used that way. You wouldn't take the paintball client and try to play half-life in it. It's just not plausible. Although could probably be done, it's pointless when you could just play half-life. (big reason why half-life source was a huge failure, only people who didn't play the original half-life even cared.)

Now the point of matching. Yes, matching is different from public play. But public play is supposed to teach you and train you, for matches. And let new player's get the feel for the game, and the intensity it was designed for. Most of the new player's don't get this, so they do not join a clan. If we had 20 or so, 6-8 player clans. Everyone would be much happier. There would be more variety and clan styles. Not just a few big clans with 10-30 people in one clan. This takes up most of the matching community, and really.. diminishes it. Considering there are only a few big clans with a large amount of players, no variety, and not much matching goes on except with those clans. Kind of pointless, if you ask  me. 2vs2 matches are also pointless. It is not a TEAM effort. If we had 20 or so 6-8 player clans than we might actually need 5 match servers.

Anyways, in a really old vet's opinion. Which i rarely play anymore because DP just isn't what it used to be. I think this needs to change. I have been asked to join many many clans since I came back a few months ago, and I just have absolutely no interest in it anymore. Sadly. Server's need to be set for the maps. Maps need to be made for certain server's. Server's should run 16 player limit's, on 16 player maps. 32 player limit's should be running 32 player maps. If people want 32 player games, then the community should be making 32 player maps. But you now what, the Quake engine isn't really designed for this in the first place. But, load up brainstorm, take a walk through it. And, take notes. That's how its done. By the master. jitspoe. Who I bet would agree with me, and who designed the game for what it is. Extending player limit's, I bet in his mind, was for people designing 32 player maps. He has worked hard at this game for so long, and has worked hard to give player's what they want. And all this time has heard complaint's from more then half the people in this game about various issues. And he still stays strong, trying to provide everyone with a game they love. When he could have just said here.. here's digital paint for Quake 2 v1.51 or 1.6. I'm moving on to bigger and better things. People just don't want to take the time, to design something as masterful as brainstorm. Take some time out of their lives to give back to jit what he has given so much of. It's a lot of work. I certainly have tried, and failed miserably. But there are some talented mapper's out there at the moment. Who would rather make many small maps, and release them buggy, then work hard on a map like brainstorm, or shreds. And create a masterpiece. And until that happens, In my opinion. 32 player slots should go.

But I think the last thing I'm going to mention is this;
Instead of making posts like this, and fighting about the hard pressing issues, why don't you guys take some time out. Setup a room on IRC, and go over it with jitspoe. You guy's never consider his opinions on anything anymore, and expect him to consider your requests. He made the darn game. Respect that. And others whom are not in your clan. Setup a meeting. darn.. I bet you'd get a lot farther.
And next time you see jitspoe. Tell him thanks. I haven't seen anyone really be truthfully thankful to jits for what he has accomplished with this game in such a long time. Respect him like I said. Do something to better the community. Not make it worse.

Thanks.

EDIT:
Oh, jits was gone for this week, so he had missed out on discussing this. I would have loved to have his opinion all the way through, though.

Excellent post, Xile.  I wish everybody could put half or even 1/4 of that much thought into their posts.  As you suggested, the higher player limits came about to help make larger maps more enjoyable.  Brainstorm is just one map that works well with more than 16 players.  Palace, NHB, TLC, Anubis, some of DT's maps, and a handful of others support larger player counts.  I kicked the server limit up on the EV1 servers with the advent of mapinfo files, intending them to be self balancing.  As more people join the servers, the larger maps in rotation will be played.  When the player count drops off, smaller maps will be played.  Other servers followed suit.  It worked well to a degree, but:

a) The connect/disconnect rate on servers seems to have increased dramatically.  10 or more people may join or leave a server within a very short period of time -- too fast for the map rotation/mapinfo system to compensate for.
b) Several maps did not have mapinfo files and thus had no limits, which threw the system off and caused certain maps to be played excessively and beyond their feasible player capacity (shazam33 and barrels, for example).  Some servers just updated the executables and not the mapinfo files with new releases as well.
c) Some servers lacked the sufficient range of map sizes to make the system really work, so medium/small maps were cycled even with high player counts.

I can see why admins are reluctant to add the larger maps, since they tend to clear servers out, but they really do help keep things balanced as well as expose new players to other aspects of the game.  Every server should have high capacity (16+ player) maps comprising a good 20-30% of the rotation if the player limit is above 16.

Ultimately, I think the best compromise and possibly the best solution in general is to extend the mapinfo files to limit the number of clients who can connect to the server and not just limit the map rotation.  That way large maps could be filled, and small maps won't be overcrowded.  I suggest everybody involved in this discussion vote for this feature (or suggest a better alternative).

Y2J: You need to stop with the personal attacks.  All it's doing is causing people to disregard your opinion, and you're going to get yourself banned (again) if you continue.  Picasso and Eiii: you're also walking a thin line.  Come on, guys.  You're capable of behaving better than this.  Lets focus the discussion more on what we can do to help the game play better in relation to player counts and less on what we think about the people making their arguments.

Piccasso, why don't you do something to fix the "pathetic state" of dp as you claim it, instead of try to get people to persecute me for brining a subject of community concern to everyones attention? Fools like me? I've played this game longer then most of the people I see post on this forum, but one thing is common between all of us except you GT guys for someone reason, we all want a lower user limit. All the other servers changed. Jitspoe already voice his opinion on the last one. He said a balanced map list with lower server limits, or automatically adjusting ones were what he would ideally like to see.

And as eiiii said, you're by far being the most disrespectful in this thread? Maybe AA is needed for you and your beam problem is it? I mean excrement, if not for the communities sake, the kids?

And read Xile's post. It's a good one.

I need to stop with the personal attacks? Please.. Picasso and Snipen have said excrement way worse about me and you let it go.. I just state simple facts.

The best part about all of this is that clearly everyone wants this changed, despite the fact they still play on the servers, from the previous poll, to the variety of people that are chiming in and giving their two cents. Yet GT still has the nerve to say the majority of people don't want change. I do not understand how they come to that conclusion.

For those of you who got bored of reading xiles great post, here is what he basically is pointing out(as was everyone else): 8 or 16 player maps cant run on 32 player servers.  Its completely pointless.

So this is what im suggesting to GT since you want to be stubborn maybe you can Compromise. (this is my COUNTER OFFER to you.)

GT- Make maybe 1 or 2 servers for 32 player maps -- Have 2 servers or so for 16 player maps and make the limit 16 -- and for those maps like blitz and pbcup which some people love maybe throw in an 8 player server for those.

As for Y2J come on irc before i kick your ass.

Thanks

Ultimately, I think the best compromise and possibly the best solution in general is to extend the mapinfo files to limit the number of clients who can connect to the server and not just limit the map rotation.

I don't think that'll accomplish a ton if that's toggleable. I say, if you have public set to 1, that option has to be set also.

I really don't have a say in this because I am indeed banned from GT servers. Although I am banned, I will say this. From the times I've spent on GT servers in the past two years and some change, I've seen interesting things. Even when I was in GT I witnessed admin abuse several times. I understand you pay for the servers with your hard earned money, but why abuse and make people not want to play on what you've worked so hard to pay for? I don't understand that. I think the only reason people STILL play on GT is because those are the only servers filling up due to the spam-fest maps everyone enjoys oh so much. I think a 32 player limit is a little excessive, 16 is an ideal playing state in my opinion. Plus, less server limit more of your servers/other servers are being used. In my eyes, GT is just trying to control the whole server situation. If I had the money, I'd throw some servers up and I would guarantee you they would be just as played as GT due to the fact that 95 percent of the community dislikes GT admins. Now I'm sure Picasso will have some rant about me being banned and how I'm a "qtip headed lil' puke" but who cares. It's a typical thing from him. I'm simply stating my opinion, I don't care if you agree or not, but I guarantee you almost everyone will agree.

G'day.

What you are saying this. Everyone.....?

I like playing paintball for free. I dont like things with stuff.

Right?

Be proactive not projective as you are experts...

My perspective...

Please move on to maps that will support this or work with what you got soldier and stop complaining. ok?

We can work together like gentlemen.

Thanks Guys!

@Y2J:Wow triple post....... all within 10 minutes too
Zero had a very good point maybe you guys could stop flaming each other and just take a look at other posts from those who are not saying anything offensive or whatever you want to call it.
You guys maybe for once you should go back pertending you're someone else that just stumbled upon this thread look at your selves like come on.
As I was saying before why not give some of these ideas a try for a while if you don't like how it's working after a while then change it back!
Really guys you honestly should think about some ideas from those of us who are not badgering you but instead you just go right back at those who are.
For those of you who are flaming those who are in GT you should stop complaining so much I know not all of you are but those who are flaming them should just stop PERIOD you are not getting anything done by flaming each other except as Jits said getting closer to getting yourselves to be banned really is that what you want or would you rather take the time to stop flaming and start getting things done.
I know I'm repeating myself but look at yourselves and what do you think both of you complain about flaming the thing you your self are doing.
By the way I no this wasn't the nicest post ever but I just wanted to get my point across btw nice to see you back Jits.
