15 people on a private category on this forum is a non issue. We have several right now....Plus it will all be logged in the database.

A lot of people can't get to irc when they aren't at home.

15 people? What good is it having half of the active forum members on a committee?

First of all, the committee should be an EVEN number, that way to win something there has to be a simple majority, With an even number, it dictates you must win by two, and in the event of a tie, Jitspoe can cast the deciding vote.

I think 6-10 is the best, 10 is pushing it still.

True, but I think it might be the case that Jitspoe would welcome some sort of committee? He's mentioned that there are lots of decisions that must be made almost daily, and some of these i think he wouldnt mind delegating to a committee so he can concentrate on others things (ie, development!) Just speculation though!

as mentioned before, I agree with yootz. Actually, I would agree with Darkness (no committee), but as jitspoe proposed this and showed his support for a "penetration" of the decision process by the community, a small committee would be a lot healthier than a bigger one.
Nomination system sounds good to me as well. But that should be up to master jitspoe
