EDIT: Once again these threads have been filled with clutter from people who are in no way remotely active in the clan scene nor have any knowledge of what is going on. Another reason our committee blows.
-
1. Remove the few legacy-clans full of talented excretory openings.
2. Start up a few starter-clans full of friendly, willing-to-share talented players.
3. Removing recon would be nice, too.

Wow. quick thoughts.
I care about this game and its growth. Quality time and money spent is self evident.
This specifically was discussed along time ago.
Problem is Assurance and Insurance.
Assure players and or clans, that they are where they belong.
Insure this with player / clan rankings and all encompassing scripting that will be made public. After great debate there is no reason not only to kick live cheaters but why......unless the coder has other intents.
Those intents are limited to the preservation and the security of said code.
Both understood..
Bix....
To your concern......please see above. being that you have complained against my wanting to improve the clan scene...i must insist again with this.
(Mr how many names do you use? That will never promote ur true desire. sportsmanship...)
My foretelling since spring 06... which is the basis for all my arguments.......
look back...and see who faltered on a solidified clan scene...
What happened that all players must adhere to said rules?
Is that what we been reduced to..
Blah blah blah..?
Make a code of ethics.
Follow them..
Thanks...
Merry Christmas everbody...
*EDIT ee i o
Personally speaking...clan hoppers are OK but should be moderated.
removing re con?
sure ..another logical division
this game can be done so many positive ways....
lets hear more of yours!
i wont respond becuase everthing posted i said is true. But if u choose to disagree please discuss your ideas not feelings and pm me.
-
Nothing loial says has any credit, because I am apparently a clan hopper (in his/hers eyes) even though I have only been in two clans within 3-4 years..
-
No you are an individual.
Read what i said.
Please
u discount me because you clan hop. why?
Read and respond to the fundamentals....
Which is what i ask all players seek..

For one loial...I dont alias in match OR pub, which is beside the fact i rarely pub. I have been in two clans in the past 4ish years..CC and 3iob. Sorry...I fail to remember spring of 06. I don't clan hop...others do.
Back to the discussion...maybe you can only join one clan per 15 days?
-
maybe you can only join one clan per 15 days?
It wont help, my opinion.
What about make some website for clans and their members? Websites where you can fight another clan, upload a match demo where you owned all(lolupload.com doesnt work) or just chat with another people? I know there is IRC (without demos), but I personally don“t like it, coz people are talking about nothing and just spending their boring time there. Just lil idea.

I dont agree with removing recon. Only because when I first started I thought that was the coolest thing.
Starter clans are awesome. I started with InT when they were still around, which was awesome. I learned how to play, doublejump, lining spots, recon. But most of all I loved the people in the clan. It was a fun environment, where we learned and yet were pretty competitive.
I have no comment to removing the legacy clans. But it would be nice if teams switched up or something.
Even though my post doesnt count towards any of this discussion.
It would be sweet if some "noob" clans actually got on IRC, vent and stuff.
Also be awesome if we had tournaments or some events. Just to see Paintball grow just a little bit more.
-

Maybe you should. Many times he speaks truth.

InT was awesome. I bet it would help the clan scene quite a bit if it is resurrected or have similar clans up.
Also, for InT members, go check the off-topic section of the clan's forums. ^_____^
-
Nopyo? You still play? lol Anyways not to beat a dead horse but there have been plenty of descent teams started. Most of the time they die because everyone wants to be THE BEST. It is hard to make the clan scene grow because of the negativity of the more established clans. InT was a great thing. It helped a lot of people get better. Justinp5 and nub for instance. What really destroyed InT was the harsh treatment we received because we had a set of ethics we followed. We were considered noobs but we learned a lot. Many of us still play but tend to stay away from the clan scene. If you really want the clan scene to get larger it will take quite a few members of the "Legacy" clans to walk away from players and a team they have known for a long time and to pick up some noobs with potential and teach us more. Stick with it and don't drop it because you want to be the best. Stick with it to become something. Every dog has its day. WsL was awesome. We almost every match at the beginning but it stayed together because everyone was learning from each other. The only reason it did die was because I killed it because of the move I was doing. Anyways. To make it grow you need to develop more teams, establish a ranking system, make a set of matching rules, and have leaders enforce some match discipline.
-
Yeah I haven't played for quite a while cuz I got bored of the clan scene. Its the same teams all the time, same players, same trash talk, it gets boring.
I hope to revive InT if I find time next month, since its always interesting playing with different levels of ppl the turn up, and no trash talking when things turn bad.
-
Why not just bring it to UTi? You, Nub, and myself play together quite often anyways. I'm sure Gav will come if we all start playing on a regular basis. Viciouz just needs to be found. lol That's 5 descent players to give a stable system of controlling quite a few new players. Let me know... If you go the InT route I'll do the largest ad campaign you ever saw. Either way you decide I'm in if you'll have me. And same with Nub. He has no choice in the matter.
-
I'm here, but hibernating.
-
Wake the heck up.... We need you. Time to learn to play dp again. All or nothing. You in? Come to #team_InT

The method for growing the clan scene can be found in the thread i created years ago: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=2004.0
All the clan scene needs is enough newbies willing to follow those criteria.
One of the reasons the clan scene is in a downturn is because it lacks people willing to learn the ways of the clan scene. There aren't newbies that hang around the established teams and learn how to run clans and play better. For example, Olbaid started CC years ago, went through a learning phase where they were terrible, but stuck through it and developed CC into a top contender. Furthermore, you can see the quality of players start up enterprises like CC produces. Even skater's 'insane' was a pretty good clan in its time (even when digi and I weren't double clanning). These people put in the time and effort to become part of the clan scene and compete with the best. People just don't do this anymore. The only person I can think of recently who has done anything like this is Rule_, who watches more of our matches than I participate in.
DP is increasingly lacking anyone with the motivation to take actions like these. Moreover, computer hardware is really beginning to catch up with contemporary games. DP's value proposition is that it is free and that most computers can run it. While it will always have the free aspect, the ability for 14 year olds to run call of duty is becoming easier. Plus, the learning curve of the newer games is ever decreasing, again making it easier for the younger crowd to play contemporary games successfully. For the clan scene to grow, we need those 14 year olds with enough time and enough motivation to do the things that Olbaid and skater did, but they are beginning to have less and less reason too.
Finally, a lot of the traditional people that fueled the clan scene are beginning to have less time to spend playing games. eR33t, for example, has people in graduate school, people working 40+ hours a week, people starting families etc. We barely have enough time to catch up with each other on mIRC let alone match. Skater is the only one with unlimited time on his hands and now he's out of the picture for a few months.
Developing universal rules for the clan scene is a surefire way to F it up. Whenever jitspoe has imposed some new change in the past on the clan scene it has rarely, if ever, been accepted.
In my opinion, Bix, the DP clan scene has seen its last days. Once Bain/BoB/Blitz stop caring enough to pay for the servers it will be one of the few nails left for the coffin.
-
Oh, I meant the end-of-round chasecam reporting-the-position-of-the-last-opponent stuff.
-
What I see is the same few players hopping around creating a new clan every few months. They leave an established clan, make one of their own, then when they have to work hard to get new teammates to play how they are used to they grow fustrated and leave, only to return to their original clan. What some of us have mentioned before is ... what does it take for some of us to get some of you to help us learn more. Maybe the top clans will vanish or be handed to some newbies? Who knows. Problem will not get solved if everyone stays so close minded and not help get something going.
-
I say... Stick to a clan. When you're with a clan for so long... You build up a great relationship, sorta like love :D.
You get use to how they play and what not. You laugh at the losses and wins. uR has lost some players, but the main ones have stuck it out. It's only been a year and 18 weeks for uR's life. But I can see this clan going on... till the end. Dang.
-
many new plyers dont know what the clan scene is or offers.
maybe make a video displaying the superior skills of some clans to both show new players th kind of talent they can work toward, and it will show them how the clan scene wroks.
promotin the way a real match would also help. large servers and speed servers dont realy promote the clan scenes strategic, teamwork way to play this game.

Bix, shut the hell up.
There were reason's why I left. Not being active while I was - was the main reason. Talk excrement much?

-
I was simply pointing out that you contradicted yourself in a hippocratic manner. You make a whole post about staying with one clan for a long period of time, when you've recently been hopping around.
-
Some sort of vid or guide would be a good idea.
Going over things like communication, basic gameplan, & working off each others actions in addition to shooting stuff could help out quite a bit. Some of the newer players want to learn they just need a nudge in the right direction. Hell there are a few regular pub players (not in clans) that catch on to the whole recon thing after a while!
-
vague, there are guides here on the forums and resources on places like The DP2 Resource which have been around for a long time. No-one bothers to read them though. People like Lekky and DT put in a fair bit of effort writing these guides, I'd like to think proactive beginners will find them useful:
Lekky's New Clan Guide (http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=7307.0)
How newbies can integrate into the clan community (http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=2004.0)
QeHs Clans article compilation (http://qehs.indiereview.co.uk/index.php?site=articles)
Oh, and Bix, I think you mean Hypocritical.

-
I remember the days of organized tournaments in dp. A well organized tourny every now and then gives clans incentive to practice but its people who talk crap during matches and bloat afterwards that ruins them.
-
I say stop flaming the new guys, I scene 3 clans die before I left with decent players in it, that split up cause they was told they suck and they wanted to be apart of a better team. Encourage more of staying togetherness and fellowship and maybe the clan scene will rise a little.
Capo misses me, NO HOMO. I been in uR for a while and the other clans I been in I was loyal to, such as, The Great {DeW} clan I stuck with them even when we was the most hated clan in the game, ]vA[ basically a name change for uR. PM and iRON i was just helping people out.
-
Not having posts like this could help too.
Topic pretty much says it all, contact me via irc or post here. You most likely will not get in.
-
atmays, I'm pretty sure your clan broke up because two of its main members had conclusive evidence brought against them for using aimbots and then they tried to deny it.
It did make for some superb idiotquotes though.
-
edited out!
-
First thing first. Atmays, could I introduce you to loial? You two share much in common....
Next, I do want one more member for 3iob, and trust me...many people want in. The chances of them getting in are very small.
Third, I'd love to see demos of me flaming new guys...(or atleast I think that is what atmays is saying after reading his post).
I cannot help but to agree with DT, the clan scene is coming to it's end...and there is nothing we can do to stop it.
Finally I cant help but to say this. Garret, I dont even know who you are..i've never seen you on irc, a pub, or a match. Yet you are in our committee...
EDIT: I just looked through the members of the DP committee. Not only do I not recognize all of the names, but MOST of those people are inactive. Of that whole list I only see Justinph5 on irc or pubs. Maybe it is time to redo that list...to people that are active.
-
Just cause you dont see them dosent meen there inactive, They might not match alot, they can still pub. half of dp doesnt use irc, which is why theres not as many matches, Then the half that do match, if they send out a scrim request while another clan doesnt have the people on, they seem to think everyone is scared or randomly going afk when they want a match, And face it, To all the people who talk during games, there is an ignore all, but still expect people not to want to put up with it... and not match you as often. Hopefully somebody comes up with a brilliant idea to make the clan scene grow, but its just about dead with an active 3-4 clans still playing. Same faces, Same maps...

Been busy the past to months. Having a life sucks... I still pub when I can.

Not in your timezone bucko. I'm usually always pubbing it up.

You don't have the slightest idea how screwed up my computer is due to viruses and malware. Just getting a browser to open is a task that takes about 15 minutes for my computer to process. Actually opening mirc or DP2 is completley out of the question until I get this mess sorted out. Then I can guarentee that I'll be on more. Knack showed me a handy link how on how to fix it, so I'm working on that, oh and speaking of work I have a job now and when I'm not working I'm either trying to fix my computer, sleeping, or doing homework. You may think I'm not worthy to be on the committee but whenever I get a chance(or a browser to open :P) I'm on voting and giving my input on topics. Thank You and have a nice day.
-
Ok, so half our committee is active...
-
Are you including me in that group?
-
The clan scene could grow if there aren't teams filled with people like you Bix.
-
The clan scene could grow if there aren't teams filled with people like WeeZy
-
I disagree, the clan scene has always had people like that... and flourished. RR, sR, iP, eR33t, krew any clan with WvSoulja in it have always had people that talk trash and laugh at other peoples' expense (often because they don't take the internet that seriously). During the prime of these clans, the scene itself was much larger than it is today.
Loial21: But its not as if you care about your opponents trust or respect, you are poor sport to begin with. Cry when you loose or stomp when you win. It is all the same, a lack of fundamental gaming morals.
This is not the reason the clan scene is diminishing.
-
Well all the GT match servers seem to be gone. Once the eR33t servers go down that will be pretty much it for the American match scene.
-
uR still has both of their match servers up.
nick123 has one for s2k.
So er33t isn't the only one with match servers.
-
time and time year after year month after month all u see is threads like these and no action being done.
-
It's always good to have hope though
-
yes. We all hope that one day the clan scene will become no more so we can go on with our lives.
-
fl1p hahaha come play xbox with me
-
Garret, i dont know who the meddling hell you are. You act like you know your way around the clan scene. From a small amount of research it looks like you don't even go on IRC...GOOD COMMITTEE MEMBER! DT is right as others are too. The clan scene is not coming to an end because people talk trash, it has been there forever and even through it the clan scene prospered.
The clan scene could grow if there aren't teams filled with people like you Bix.
No action will be done as kaos said, the clan scene is dying. People like Garrett are tool bags and act like they have some place of knowledge in DP. When he sits there in the committee forums to play lawyer and decide ban times on people who accidently made two accounts. good job PAL.
The clan scene has had its run...it was good and fun...but it if finally coming to an end i feel.
EDIT: stupid thing changed all my swear words to garrett
EDIT: Garrett, don't take part in a CLAN SCENE discussion if you do no more than troll dp forums.
EDIT: <@Br55HiT> the commitee = ppl that never play dp
QFT^^^^^^^
Time to take a vacation - see you in 7
-
There's absolutely no way that trash talking is the reason for the dying clan scene. Trash talking has been around since probably the beginning of this game and will probably be there until the end of it. There's always a fresh supply of prepubescent 10 year olds that feel the need to prove their manhood on an online game based on their "skills". As DT said, the clan scene is dying mostly due to a lack of time available in the lives of the older members of the community and the lack of drive/interest in the newer players. The only way i see the clan scene growing again is for a sudden surge of interest and intelligence in the clan scene.
-
This game is garbage, thus, the dying clan scene.
It's 2009.
-
You see bix, you may think the current committee isn't fit for the job but with the way idiots like you come on here critisizing people even you claim you don't know, that is why there is no way in hell that jitspoe would let you, and people like you have such a responsibility. I think you should worry about yourself first then worry about us.
-
If the committee wanted to make me happy they'd resolve this issue I posted from over a month ago.

Thats not a committee issue, thats just something that jitspoe does.
-
It's still been sitting there for over a month. So this just says ok kids go hack you won't get banned any time soon. Just like you can still mod hr4's and most other things so why have the cheat detection system?
And if it's not a committee thing then why is it in the committee section of the forums because I put it in the cheat section.
This is why the clan scene is dying...
*hitman8907_47: who made this room
*hitman8907_47: if u want less respawn time go
to joemanz pub
*[ELIM] hitman8907_47: s to go say I
*[ELIM] hitman8907_47: who wants less respawn
time
*[ELIM] CursedHwk: me
Was in 3iob's pub which is probably one of the only good ones left. But noobs want instant respawn then complain about spawn camping then just give up. Hard to get people into irc and clans when their idea of fun is instant spawns and no strategy.
-
1.Jitspoe is a busy man, we have stressed this point too many times before
2.if "noobs" want instant respawn, tell them to go to a speed server.

the clan scene could be better if the rules were in a much more public place. A thread in the forums isn't enough. Not all dp players go on the forums so some rules are debated. Heavily debated

Hope you realise that when a rules page is put up on a registration page, or on the start of a game, etc, it is Heavily ignored and people just look for the next button.
-
this is the most idiotic thread ever. It's a flame fest not a discussion on how to help the clan scene

That is one of the problems right there.
Eradicator I'm not sure what point your getting at so I'll start at the beginning.
I posted the topic in the cheater reports and bans section of the forums. It got read and people that watched them demo agreed it was a hack. A few weeks passed and nothing happened so I posted asking if anything would ever be done. A day or two later it was moved to the issues for the committee section of the forums. I thought something might happen then. Now I'm told the committee has nothing to do with that. So why was it moved? Also, I know Jitspoe is busy but there were other people banned while the topic was sitting on the forums not going anywhere. He had to have seen it and maybe read over the posts. But still nothing was done. -sigh- I guess hackers win again at this game like usual.
-
it's one hacker of many just leave it. If he hacks again I will be found out and he will be banned. This isn't the place to discuss it
-
I know this isn't the place to discuss it but the topic where it should be discussed went no where. So where should this be discussed?
Leave it alone? Why don't you just say ok guys you can hack and you MIGHT get banned we don't know depends on Jitspoe's mood that day.
-
Just calm down hitman. Let's get back on topic
-
At the rate this topic is going one of the mods is gonna lock it any time now..
