A 3v3 tourney celebrating the new year of 2014!
Ho Ho Ho! Wishing you a happy holidays and a good 2014 year from Liquid Nitrogen!
The Liquid Nitrogen (http://dplogin.com/index.php?action=viewclan&clanid=15734) clan and I have been busy organizing a tournament since Thanksgiving weekend.
We thought of a Christmas Cup, but we weren't ready by the deadline date yet. And I mean, really not ready, less prepared than how we were in our tournament last weekend! So we came up with a New Years Cup. It was a perfect date, because we had pretty much everything set up by then, and it was a great way to celebrate the new year of 2014!
How do I sign up?
Your roster can be up to 4 players, which can be three and one sub.
Sign up here, or by contacting LaZeRs or noturning in-game, Skype, or IRC/TS3.
What is the format of your tournament?
Our format includes teams of 3, double elimination, best out of 1, finals are best of 3, and 15 minute match times with the standard match rules applied to all games in the tournament.
What's featuring in your tournament?
We have LIVE brackets, North-American AND European servers, and the ability to have a funtag (no letters or numbers) OR an existing clan tag!
Are there any specific times in this tournament?
The only time you need to know in this tournament is when it starts. And that is at 5 PM (GMT), 6 PM (CET), 7 PM (EET), 12 PM (EST), 9 AM (WST), and 4 AM (Austrailia, sorry ausies :() You can set up specific times about when to match the team you're facing, after meeting for the first match(es) at those specific starting times.

Also I can fix rallyr_b1 as well and make it so you spawn with guns for this tourney. Also wont be random barrels.

Thanks Clipz! I'd appreciate it if you put up a new prozak server or two just for the tourney. That way people can still match on prozak servers while the tourney is on. That would be great if you sent me teh rallyr bsp file after you did that!

I agree, Euro's ran it on Euro servers, so shouldn't this be american's running it on american servers? :P Maybe just do the whole "Our map, your server" shiz. Though, it's up to Lazers.

I'm sorry you feel that way about me, it's a shame you lack reasoning behind your opinion. "JMR has gone so much selfish", not only lacks basic grammar, but also gives me no insight on what I, myself can do to change my attitude. It appears to me that you hate me, my reason behind thinking this, is due to your lack of reasoning.
I will speak to JMR about letting you use sPec servers for a euro side, they are in London. I'm not sure if he will agree or not. No promises.
I pay out for these servers monthly. I'm sure lasers will understand when I say 'sPec hosted', doesn't really add up to a '210 hosted' tournament. I have the tournament on the 21st on Dec to organize for and when Lasers said "We're taking over from spec's tournaments" I was quite offended, as sPec are still hosting tournaments, but I want to make sure the quality is at a high standard, that's why I took a few weeks break.
So now you know my reasoning why I feel uncomfortable about hosting servers for the 210 tournament, you can now understand when I say "I might host the servers", but I cannot make any promises. In a way, these tournaments are competing with each other, as they are at a similar time, my main focus will be the sPec tournament.

Not trying to be offensive or raise PAC topic, but what kind of anticheat software you have to detect cheats? Cheating is unallowed in game generally, so why you need to put this here if you don't have anything to improve cheat detection...

If you cannot come on IRC, feel free to come on TS3 on the otb server. (otb-server.de I think).
If you guys want prozak ts3, that's fine by me. Noturning and I thought about the otb one first, that's why we put that up there.

Again, good luck on your tourney. I just realized that this tourney is literally a COPY of the sPeC tourney. U literally chose the same maps and everything else...same times...etc. All u did was made it 3v3 instead. The tourney isn't planned out well either. You can't just start a tournament with no logic or planning... For example, what will u do if there are an odd amount of teams? I wouldn't want to sign up for a tourney like this. The spEc clan actually spent time planning this out. They created servers and all that. This is literally a dumb tourney with no planning just trying to overcome jealousy. Once again, good luck with your tourney, but many aspects need to be fixed. It's hard to get teams of 3 in a game that's so dead. Gl fixing this tourney. All u got is your former clan mate on a team and you. I cam see why. U won't get ppl to sign up with nothing planned out.

If there are an odd amount of teams, we would have the first two teams registered play each other, and the losing team will be out of the first tourney, but being able to have a second chance by participating in the 2nd tourney, on January 4th-5th. And then it will go on from there.
Sorry I almost copied the maps, maybe I could start a thread/poll on what maps we could use from the tourney. I kept the times the same as #sPec#'s so that way I can get as many people to be able to play, and JMR was smart making those timezones.
We are not jealous. I love the idea of tournaments. I think they're awesome. And |-210| ran a tourney once before, so why can't we do it again? JMR's tourneys brought (and are still bringing) people back to this game. And plus, this is a New Years Cup, only on two specific weekends, unlike JMR's 3v3 monthy tournaments starting on the 21st.

A few notes though lazers, a few suggestions :)
I'd alter the maplist a bit more to fit 3v3, the maplist from sPec's tournament was tailored for 2v2, thus some smaller maps aren't suitable for 3v3. For example, rallyr_b1 and
greenpark_b4 do not really fit in.
Also, the neon green background for the details section, doesn't work well, could potentially hurt eyes.
More people will gradually sign up for the cup as it gets closer to the starting date. :)

Thanks for the advice and kind offer, JMR. You make a very solid point about selecting maps that are better suited to 3v3. Lazers and I will discuss this further and revise the map list accordingly. We are open to suggestions, including that provided by FusSioN.

- SERVERS UPDATED
In a match where the teams are both EU (Europe), matches will be played on: #sPec# Servers.
In a match where the teams are both NA (North American), matches will be played on: #Prozak Servers.
In a match where one team is EU and one team is NA, matches will be played on the server of the first team who registered as a team for the tourney. For example, if team 1 (team that was the first to register) was playing team 2 (team that was the second to register), and team 1 was North American while team 2 was European, team 1 would have the pick of choosing their server (NA - Prozak, or EU - sPec). This applies to all other regions of the world. So if team 1 was slovakian and team 2 was chinese, the slovakian team would get to choose the server they want to play on.
(Please, when registering, say what region dominates your team, so if you had two EU's and one NA, you would say your team is EU.)

This maplist is not good. I would choose more 4fg maps.
I think you should remove:
greenhill_b1 - its really small map for 3vs3 and its linefest
prolandr - very tricky and fast map
airtime - linefest
Maybe you could add sth like: carpathian,g2_b2, castle1, pbcup_renoir
And 10min isnt enough for 3vs3 match.

Here are the brackets.
The first two rounds will be played on Saturday (by first two, I mean brackets with at least one actual team on them), and the semifinals and finals brackets will be played on Sunday. This applies to both tournaments.
We will be using #sPec#/#Prozak Servers. When two teams organize a time to play each other, the team WHO REGISTERED FIRST is allowed to pick which server they want.
Matches can be played anytime throughout the day. But, your team is to play the team in the bracket. Please post your scores here, or in a trusted photo site! Or, if you can, just tell me or noturning your scores.

Well, I was aiming for the teams' fairness rather than one team crushing each side of the whole thing, but if the people want it, I will change it.

Funny, iNte doesn't even place top 3 when DR34M isn't using their real roster.
Don't run an NA tournament ever, please. Two reasons why: 1) There's no NA teams other than DR34M so it makes no sense - 2) DR34M's actual lineup already dominates every EU team whilst playing on EU servers, it's easy as is... don't give us another advantage. If anything, try to DDOS DR34M members when we're playing. Please, when our real lineup is playing, try to give us disadvantages so it's not so easy. Thanks.
Glad your tournament ran well, and good thing on making it 1 day. Multi-day tournaments don't work in this community.

I think announcing after was a smart idea, as it made sure that teams were signing up to play, rather than signing up to save a spot just in case.

HOW GAMES WILL BE PLAYED
Since people have their own schedule, the teams must meet up and discuss a time to play. The first (and possibly 2nd, if we get more than 4 teams) can be played anytime on the Saturday, and the finals (and possibly semifinals, if we get more than 4 teams) can be played anytime on Sunday for both weekends. You must post screenshots of your matches, whether it's here or on a good photo sharing site.
Here's how teams from the same/different regions will play.
In a match where the teams are both EU (Europe), matches will be played on: #sPec# Servers.
In a match where the teams are both NA (North American), matches will be played on: #Prozak Servers.
In a match where one team is EU and one team is NA, matches will be played on the server of the first team who registered as a team for the tourney. For example, if team 1 (team that was the first to register) was playing team 2 (team that was the second to register), and team 1 was North American while team 2 was European, team 1 would have the pick of choosing their server (NA - Prozak, or EU - sPec). This applies to all other regions of the world. So if team 1 was slovakian and team 2 was chinese, the slovakian team would get to choose the server they want to play on.
(Please, when registering, say what region dominates your team, so if you had two EU's and one NA, you would say your team is EU.)

^ Regardless, a tournament should be well thought out and have everything stated in the original post - BEFORE any signups happen. You shouldn't change ANYTHING once the first team has signed up.
That's how a real tournament would be run. But this isn't a game where it really matters so yolo right

Yep, finals/semifinals should always be different to the other matches, because it gets the most attention from viewers.
Also the maplist wasnt that good. We basically played only pforest whole tourney, because there werent any other maps we would prefer. If there was eg. renoir/sass added, it would lead to wider map choices at least for our team (ye we played wobluda, but that was just our bad, we didnt decide on elims we just wrote w/e we thought of and ended up playing wob, even tho it wasnt really tactical ^^).
As for the server choice, we had the right by rules to choose server (we registered before you did). Because we felt like it wasnt fair to play finals on eu server, we offered you to play BO3 while switching servers.
The rule about server deciding is pretty weird too. I think you should make it that team which is seeded higher in brackets gets the server choice.
And more thing, having even number of maps makes elimination weird, you basically deprive a team one elimination.
Leme give you an example, if there were 4 maps:
Team 1 eliminates 1 > 3 maps left
Team 2 eliminates 1 > 2 maps left
Team 1 eliminates 1 > the remaining map is played
so not only Team 1 gets to pick the map they want to play from the 2 remaining, they also can eliminate 2 times while Team 1 eliminates only once > not fair for the Team 2.
Otherwise good tournament, those issues i pointed out were kinda minor and we still played it through and it was fun to play. Just fix the things above and it will be even better next time.

Bo3 was offered but rules were rules, I was trying to give a smart ass remark and I think that trio didn't like it. Nice tourney other wise, like always it comes down to us vs trio though you should really just give us byes to the finals for bo3 next time.

I was thinking the team who registered first/team with a lower ranking just picks a map, and then the game starts from there.
And prozajik, I almost did the semifinals/finals on a different day, so things would've been alot different if those matches were today.

Last toutnament you let people from other teams be subs for different teams when someone from their team had to go. 2 subs is necessary when people on your team all want to play dont get back from work until 6pm gmt (yes it should be greenwich standard time not british summer time, it isnt summer).

Yes, there were some delays in the tournament - all because of me. I slept in and woke up late on the one day I didn't want to do that. Fortunately, JMR might as well have been superman in saving this tourney while I was rushing to do everything. It was a great help and I'd just like to thank JordanMRichards for all his effort in this tournament - making the brackets, participating in it, and just taking control of it in general!
I would also like to thank all the participants in this tournament! You all make it possible, and I promise I'll run better tournaments the next time I set one up.

Again, good luck on your tourney. I just realized that this tourney is literally a COPY of the sPeC tourney. U literally chose the same maps and everything else...same times...etc. All u did was made it 3v3 instead. The tourney isn't planned out well either. You can't just start a tournament with no logic or planning... For example, what will u do if there are an odd amount of teams? I wouldn't want to sign up for a tourney like this. The spEc clan actually spent time planning this out. They created servers and all that. This is literally a dumb tourney with no planning just trying to overcome jealousy. Once again, good luck with your tourney, but many aspects need to be fixed. It's hard to get teams of 3 in a game that's so dead. Gl fixing this tourney. All u got is your former clan mate on a team and you. I cam see why. U won't get ppl to sign up with nothing planned out.
