#2. I say this with all due affection, you're missing the picture. I liken it to one of those darn math story problems, once in awhile you'll just read it silly (hi-grade doja doesn't help) and no matter how many time you reread it you can't figure it out. But then the next day in class, teach goes over the problem and suddenly you get it and feel like a jackass. A little perspective is what the doctor orders. Avoid the kneejerk reaction to post and consider the following;
- A punishment too swift is unjust and lacks due process.
- This case is not like that of a pesky nob speed hacker where the evidence is near black and white. From the CC demos the "higher ups" appear to have concluded that they were most likely hacking, but there is room for error. It would be incredibly wrong and unjust to not allow them a chance to defend. Their demos, with the first person view, would provide for the clearest interpretation of the situation.
- The length of this forum post doesn't carry any weight when it comes to conviction or punishment. This is the hens in the hen house gabbing it up, consider it to be the media at an overblown trial. The amount of posting and interest in this case is testament to the popularity of the characters involved.
Lastly, the I believe they received the 64 day ban because of the "you've played long enough and should have known better" clause, which has a well established precedence. If you can be considered a well defined member of the community, than you are subject to a greater punishment due to the greater impact your crime has on the community. I support this notion.
