I dont know if this has been mentioned but how about mp3 support?
Also, count me for saving the command history except that I think it should be done in a cvar (Thats the way tremulous does it), not a file.

I think that this has been talked about before and the outcome was that it is not happening. I also believe that it was considered cheating because you can make yourself harder to see for the other team, which obviously is an unfair advantage.

If I am wrong about the above please correct me.
I would like to have customizable characters at some point.  That was part of the reason for the new player models.  Each different part (gloves, mask, face, shoes, pants, etc.) has a different texture.  There would also need to be an option to disable custom skins to prevent people from being cheap and using hard-to-see textures.

Is there anymore explination on the faster in-game downloading?  I think I get what it means, so i'm voting for it too.
You know how it takes like 5 minutes to download a map from a server when it could be done in just a few seconds?  That's what we're talking about.

I would add ogg (vorbis) before mp3.  It's a better format -- has open standards, isn't encumbered by patents / copyrights / whatever, and has source code readily available.  I think there are some legal issues with implementing mp3, and it may not even be compatible with the GPL.

As for the command history -- cvars are written to a file already, so it doesn't really make much of a difference.  The problem with storing it in a cvar, though, is that you couldn't save any commands that used quotes.  Also, some people have already run into issues with their config files getting too large.  I've increased the buffer size, but I'd prefer not to add anything else to the config file that isn't necessary.

Maybe at one point in the future (not build 18) you should concentrate on a graphics/audio build to get more people playing, e.g. in one build have ogg support, ragdoll deaths, better textures, vwep, models, mp3 player, customisable models etc.
This way, when new players start playing because the graphics are good, the gameplay is already likely to have been perfected and is less likely to change, causing splits like ball trajectory, and the possible introduction of leaning.

NOTE: I noticed a couple of things that we already have that are on the list.

If its fatal, it'll probably end, thus no server is up in the first place, we need a feature that enables it to re-host and retry like most excrement does when you lose a connection, just keeps on searching for it, we need to use that but reverse, keep on hosting it.

There is a motion blur option. But you can't set that in the menus. You have to type "gl_motionblur 1" in the console. And keep in mind that this will slow down all of your reactions.

My Vote: Faster in-game map downloading, remove funnames altogether, newer player models(male/female/cyborg), newer gun models, show topspeed on the scoreboard, mvp on scoreboard, in game communication for match servers(your team only).

Some things you can't do with aliases.  Menu commands, for example:

command "set name $tempname"

This doesn't work if you have a space in the name, ie "my name".  It comes out as:
set name my name

Then your name ends up being "my".  Actually, I think it just throws an error out to the console.  Either way, it doesn't work.  There needs to be a way to use embedded quotes, something like:

command "set name \"tempname\""
command "set name ""tempname"""
command "set name %22tempname%22"

Haven't decided which method I should use yet.

why i want to com. with mysql is for a menu for clans
so f.e. the admin can write the pass for the server. in the menu of pb which is stored in the mysqldb ...
then in another mysqldb there is the memberlist ...
amd the serverip
the members can press join in the menu and
autojoin the server with the specified pw in the mysqldb
...
this is just an example ...

i know more about scripting and menus in pb as u think i do ...

and at the moment it just says

flags can only be user or server ...

pb thinks the name after my is the flag :)

and what cobo said would be usefull too :)

err and jit would it be possible to increase buffersize pls ? :)
