New map format

<- does this mean, all maps have to be redone? so we would have a "clear" mapdatabase?
Not sure yet.  I opened this up for discussion a while ago and a lot of people were in favor of requiring all new maps.

A vote for GUI server console, just because it would look cool.

Add me onto these: Faster in-game downloading, Vwep, New gun models (such as the Angel), I think they are probably needed the most.

Add a variable like funsounds 0/1 to turn off the round begin/death/flag grab sounds.
Maybe also in the far future: toggleable sound packs?

Is there a vote for toggleable ragdoll corpses? If not add it please :)

edit: In fact, I think i'll go make a batch file to use sound packs right now. Stay ch00ned!

I think the most important are

Global-login based bans
The Mouse fix for vista (I don't have vista or know much about it.. but if people on vista are having mouse issues it should be addressed before everyone else upgrades someday)
Get rid of the old-style scoreboard at the end of the game
and
I didn't really see it in there, but I also didn't want to read the entire list, but I believe you mentioned something about server settings that would change themselves accordingly to the map and people present? Like when a map is on pbcup limit the people to 8, then when the next map comes on, say pball_shreds1, the user limit can go up to 16?

so i just finished reading this entire thread.
i think i've got my votes sorted out. i've looked over everything thats been said, and many are good ideas, but not all of those are necessities at the moment. so i think my votes will reflect that.

here are my votes for ones that are already on the list. i copied the names straight from the list so you can Ctrl+F and find them easily to add me to them.
--------------------------------
Faster in-game downloading
Link wiki on the main page
Vote kick
Global-login based bans
Don't require mouse to be over edit fields to type
(Option to) disable colored text in chat
(Option to) disable funnames
Sort buttons on (in-game) server list
Support for left and right mouse wheel
Indicator for password-protected servers
Tie global login accounts to forum accounts and wiki accounts
Warmup mode before match starts / while waiting for players
Weapon and item autoswitching
Customizable word filter
Scroll bar in the console
Enlarge lists (server lists, scoreboard, etc.) to display more characters
Context dropdowns in scoreboard for ignoring, etc.
Allow all maps supporting 1-flag mode to be playable in PONG mode
Password reset option for global logins
If the number of entities exceeds the maximum allowable, start removing paintballs instead of causing a fatal error
Make the server not hog all the CPU if there is a fatal error
--------------------------------

now, here are a few I came up with, and i don't THINK they're up there already.
--------------------------------
- fix funnames so they don't screw with other characters output after it, such as in the scoreboard.
- allow maps to be voted down if one starts that people don't want. i.e. it would then end that map and take votes again, like normal when maps are over.
- more screen resolution options, and an option for "use Windows' setting" if fullscreen enabled
- local (client-based) chat+event logging
- support for additional mouse buttons (like side buttons, etc)

and last but not least:
get jitspoe to check his PM's on the forum!
--------------------------------

ooh, i have a new one.

for the wiki: implement some sort of anti-spamming mechanism.
how it would work is the question... might it detect too many edits from one IP (or range), and then automatically revert to the last revision of a different IP? dunno ... just an idea. or maybe it would compare a new revision to the previous, and if it was too different, it would refuse the latter. who knows.

Hm, that wouldnt work.
I know that when I'm making a page in the wiki I edit quite a few times.

Besides, where is there spam on the wiki anyway?

well, i haven't checked all the pages, but i did just fix "Community Guide", and it's not the first i've fixed. and as far as detecting too many edits, ya it wouldn't be perfect, but some of these bots have made edits like 40-80 times in a row. unlikely for a human. besides i suppose it could also check if these mass amounts of edits take place over a very short period of time.

edit: but now that i notice, these bot posts aren't all within a few minutes or anything. they're spaced out to look legit. so maybe time-checking wouldn't help much.

Oh, I see what you mean now.
What you want is "tie wiki to global login".
In fact, jits, add me to that please.

EDIT:
I dont know if wiki bans are implemented already, but you should ban this ip's:
216.246.79.5
216.246.79.4

yes, good idea. tie wiki to global login.
but for that to be effective, wiki editing would have to be limited to registered users only.
