the dops have like you have noticed demo from mine supposed cheaten in the pball forum here put now I want to give a statemant here1. this toxicity didn’t wear [TU1] clan tag but Ithe real toxicity wore it always.2.this video became I think after 9 p.m done and u can ask my friend they know that Im neva after 9 p.m online only if I have holidays. .3 and in addition to most important sharp:hardly neva have any1 called me a hacker nobody has never said that only noob and in such a way
4. and the last. I ask to you: I think if u use a hack u want to hide it because u don’t want to be found out .but this toxi don’t wanted to hide his hack yeah he wanted to show it to the other peoples for example u jitspoe .i thunk that’s very strange .or not? if u watch the demo again u see that this demo is like a film

simple to solve really, ban the ip address given by jits, and whoever it was doesn't matter.
as long as that ip address was taken from that particular match

Man spoofing is bad business. I wish Jitspoe or someone would help make a global login for the game. I know its a huge undertaking but common its as logical as a global login, even more so, here is my fear.
Spoofy McSpoofster decides to make a video to frame a hated foe. McSpoofster's video is so convincing that the person he is spoofing finds himself on the global ban list. What now?
I believe the global login system despite some vulnerabilities which have been discused before, is far more helpful than what we have right now, which is nada.

thats the biggest problem with a global ban list. what we have now is nothing thats true, but if/when a global ban list is implemented, it has to be run properly. only if someone is a definate known cheater should they then be placed on it..

Incorrect. The IP I obtained was not from the forum. Actually, it differs slightly from the IP Metaler,Toxicity posts with (which I won't disclose for privacy reasons). This means either he got his ip to change or a semi-local friend/foe tried to set him up.
Edit: I just did an ip lookup on the player named "Toxicity" with the ip 80.132.162.203. On the forums that IP brought up the user "Matze."

also, how should matze be dealt with? he won't get banned from servers i know that. but surely such actions deserves a ban.

No, it would have gotten whoever is on the ip address 80.132.162.203 a global ban.

But someone faking on a demo to get him banned is way beyond a action i would do...
For myself i get a new ip everytime i connect on the internet(pc restart ect)
I dont know in waht way that could be the solution for this...

Iam the Leader of dop and we r a good clan but we dont hack jitspoe. Iam serious. Look i would die for my members.Matze and toxicity had some same numbers( 80.132. ) but it wasnt matze, iam fuc.... serious jitspoe. Man
look: matze plays since 03/04 and toxicity plays this game since end of 05. And look we have some problems with this player in germany u can ask all DoP-Members,MeMi-Members etc

-he called everybody a hacker (watch the demo of him)

So plz dont ban my greatest Member matze. Ask more german players like pureblood , moshed or whomever, they all will say that what i said.

A global name login system can stop all spoofing, period. One player account login per email address.

Ok i just got back from school and have some time now.
It is no secret that there are many new players (and hacks) around dp at this time.
Yea Metaler was bad to us , what he'd done is kind of really dispensable.
In fact nobody (but the new players like watson...) dont like hime because they now how metaler doin.
see watson is even posting that he has ahcks, so why wouldnt he give it to metaler?
i dont want to bel like " i try everything to dont get banned", but its just truth.
Its up to everybody if they belive me or some kind of new players...its not in my sphere of control.

Whoever I demoed at that day needs to be some kind of banned, I suppose.
If it was someone faking Metaler, I can't see any reasons why we / you shouldn't ban him either for cheating and / or for faking ;)

For Jits: banning the whole ip woulndt have any effect, cause i am like 80.132***.*** .The * changes everytime i (re)connect.

I don't think that Matze used the name "Toxicity" and played with hacks on neither.
I was just observer on the GT server and saw that a player named "Toxicity" was doing some kills, which seemed to be either lucky or with the help of wallhacks. So I started to demo this. At the meantime I was chatting with Matze in IRC and even told him about this guy... I think, I can say that we (nearly every German "oldschool"-player) all dislike him, so it was quite funny to see him using hacks.
I really can't image that Matze was faking Toxicity. I know him for more than a year and he wouldn't do such silly things.
@ jitspoe: Where do you have the IP from? From the forums or from the game / demo?

this is a strange story very strange .we dont know who taked my name and cheated with it .BUT one think is very strange.watch this demo again and look at the scores .u see that :toxi...: 0 kills 2 deaths ...... time 3 minutes
:bitmate 0 kills 0 deaths time 4 or 5 minutes.and he was observer.so tell me bitmate why u took a demo of a player who had this bad score ???? 3 minutes aft6er toxi enterd the game he took the demo but i ask too u: WHY ? this score of this toxi.. there was realy bad . so WHY bitmate tought he use a cheat after 3 minutes and 2 deahts?
so and the next:matze and i have the same ip 80.139.( the other 5 numbers r changing all the time).but the chance too have the same ip like matze is too little and the chance is very little that we have the same ip on the day of this cheating.i think it cant happen that we (matze and me) have on the cheating day the same ip

This lanparty the last 3 days were very funny and u should not take this on ur own.while you were get some food i was playing with a wallhack i downloaded for fun and faked toxicity because i ahte him so much.

at last this silly thingy has been cleared up... i think both "parites" dop and metaler should just relax and dont intercourse each other and such silly things...we arent 13... (or are we =]). Although it was Matze wallhacking on the server (I didn't know that..), it was quite a good demo, I think. ;D
And to jitspoe: Please don't ban Matze permanently... You know, we all did some freaky stuff when we were younger ;) . And in the end, he admitted it and saw that it was not correct to react like this.

I personally think that faking someone to get him banned is much much worse than 'just' hacking yourself. In my opinion, people like him need to get a severe punishment, but as I have understood so far he has a dynamic IP, so he cannot be banned. Think of something different.

Of course it's not nice to do that. But he admitted the whole thing and he knows now that its big mistake to make something like that. He wont do that again and I think it's a little bit exaggerated to say that he has to be punished hard. and by the way. who are you?

Global login/ban system would help this. Spoofing is bad as cheating if not more so. No matter if its in public or match.

M&M i´ve known you as a good friend. Maybe i´ve gotta think this over once again. But what i wanna say is this: He did it once. He knows it was his fault. He AINT hacking anymore. So when he aint using them anymore, i think we´re still reliably.
And for ending this topic: I think ALL! has been said here of matze, metaler and jitspoe. Now, its just up to jitspoe to make the decision for the penalty to matze and no other one can judge him. (if you want to say something tell it jitspoe in PM.)

The thing here, for me, is if he owned up to the whole thing on his own you could say it was a joke, and that he owned up to it once it looked like it was going to far. If he only owned up to it because he got caught then that's a different story.
The entire offense is dead serious. A player's identy was stolen and used to make him look like he was cheating. This, of course, means the offender has cheats. This is not a bad thing in itself, lots of people have cheats for viewing cheating demos, making cheater vids, or for any other novel reasons besides cheating. Using those cheats in bad ways is the problem. And although this is a new twist on things, it is definately a bad way to use the cheats in your possession.
Bottom line:
Did he do the deed as a joke and own up on his own? 6 out of 10 on the serious offense scale.
Did he get caught then own up? 11 out of 10 on the serious offense scale.
Matze, I have nothing against you at all. But as this topic has been put under my nose over and over I have continued to mull it over. In my mind I placed nameless faces in all the positions involved here. In this objective manner I have concluded that this offense, even when viewed as a joke, is one of the holy grail offenses, taking someone else's identity. That in itself is of very poor taste and judgement and should be, alone, punishable. If the fact prove that you were caught and then owned up to the deed then one can only conclude malicious intent. This, I think, is more severe than someone outright cheating in a match.
My recommenation:
If he owned up on his own: 6 months bannishment.
If he got caught then owned up: 12 months bannishment
Don't worry Matze my words above mean nothing. This is just my unbiased opinion. Step outside yourself and look at it. I'm sure you would agree.

@S8N: somewhere in this topic matze has mentioned that metaler has copied others identities and has made some silly stuff with the nicks of them others. And whats really weird: we havent done anything bad to him so there isnt really a reason for his actions. He had never stopped when we told him, maybe he just thought we live far away from him and he cant be punished by us for such a behaviour (which is true). But i think now it has become less...so....

So it all rests on my shoulders? I can't say I like this position very much. To be honest I don't have much control at the moment. I've already given the ip, so it's up to the server admins to decide if they want to ban it or not. No servers support the global ban list yet, and by the time all of the servers are updated, it could be months from now when this incident is in the past and forgotten.
I will say this, though: the purpose of the global ban list is not to simply remove players who have done something wrong from the community completely. It's to punish cheaters and warn the rest of the community that this type of behavior won't be tolerated. It's to make players stop cheating, not to make cheaters stop playing. A wake up call.
That said, I think this thread alone has accomplished one of those purposes: I doubt Matze will try to pull something like this again. He's already going to have a tough time building his reputation back up without further incidents. However, does it serve as a sufficient warning for other players? If no strict action is taken, will they say, "Matze got away with it, so can I."? I don't know.
Had the global ban list been implemented, I simply would have banned the offending IP as soon as I saw it. In the future, this is how it will be. Any cheater identified will receive a near-immediate, limited time ban. Repeat offenders will banned longer. I'm hoping the people who have been caught recently will have learned their lesson and not need to be banned. I think the simplest thing to do would be to start with a clean slate and only ban cheaters from the day servers support the global ban list forward. The dawn of a new, cheat-free age.

OK. Please replace the word witch in the above script and replace it with cheat. It might make some sense, it might be just plain silly or perhaps its meant to be both. In either case use your imagination.
With out the Anti-cheats sorely needed this is what we are left with. People accusing other people without direct proof other than a subjective material. This is no way to ban someone. This thread is living proof. Cheating is bad enough without spoofing someone else name and cheating. Double the punishment.
This is what happens when you distribute wallhacks. Have fun matching and reviewing demos and not second guessing your opponents movements or intentions. Until this is fixed I will see you in public, where allot of you believe its still OK to cheat, (forgive me pink) because the stakes are not as high. That is a sad state of mind to be in.

Anti-cheats aren't as effective as you'd like them to be. It just provides a false sense of 'security' for the legit players while giving the real cheaters easy protection from legit accusations.
Just staying in the realm of Q2, Q2ACE and NoCheat were both anti-cheat specific projects which were just as active as Paintball2 during their existence. Even with the development behind these projects, they were both easily defeated in public cheats.
Even looking at well funded anti-cheat teams like EvenBalance(PunkBuster creators) and the team behind Valve's anti-cheat systems -- these are still easily defeated by cheat developers.
Unfortunately the best thing to do is play with a group of players that you can trust don't cheat. I wish there was a better alternative for the pub players though, it's too bad that they have to deal with all this stupidity. :(
